One of the most visited and hiked mountain on shore Atitlan Lake. From that point it's possible to watch the sunrise and the volcanic chain of Guatemala. Especially to watch the sunrise!

Henry is amazing! This man is a trip lol he is very interesting to listen to and is a wealth of knowledge about his beautiful country. I couldn’t find a more proud Guatemayan person! The hike is relatively easy but challenging at times. be ready to laugh and learn as he walks you through the history. His English is pretty great! A little more detail about the Hike, because I didn’t know what to expect and I couldn’t find it in the reviews. if you don’t live in San Pedro, you can coordinate a pick up with Henry with a private boat, relatively cheap, considering they’re picking you up at 3:30 a.m.. you will get to San Pedro around 4 AM and then you will get in a shuttle that will drive for about 30 minutes up the mountain. It will drop you off on a little village and you will start your hike. There are three stops in the Hike where he will use them as a rest stop as well as teaching moments. You will reach the peak of the hike around 5:40 AM. (If the hike was nonstop it would take like 45 minutes to an hour) the peak is absolutely breathtaking and he takes some pretty good pictures! The back down is a lot easier. Please note that Hike up will be in the dark and requires you to be careful where you step and have some free hands as there are times you have to pull yourself up with the rope (you don’t need major upper body strength) it would be great to bring a little flashlight to put on your forehead.

The view was amazing and well worth waking up so early! Our guide, Salvador, was so friendly and knowledgeable. He definitely made me glad that my girlfriend and I booked with a guide versus going just ourselves.

What a great experience, our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. He speaks great English. As for the hike.. we are hikers and can consider this a fairly hard one... Especially since you have to get up before 4 am!

Salvador was a great tour guide and person! He was very knowledgeable and helped us through the entire hike. He picked us up at 4 am from the town where we were staying. (This is very nice because if you aren’t staying in Santa Clara the you either have to have a private boat take you there or have a driver). We then drove to Santa Clara and hiked up to the top (45 min in total). He provided walking sticks and coffee at the top! Salvador was extremely friendly and an experienced hiker. Highly recommend

Salvador was an excellent guide, very thoughtful and patient. He also pointed out to us eruptions of the Fuego volcano visible before sunrise. Strongly recommend!

An incredible hike with an incredible guide. Edvin was amazing! Decided to do this hike during the rainy season- it was muddy, wet leaves and steep. Edvin was incredible with his help, taking brief breaks, making sure we didn't fall in the mud, and provided us with walking sticks. The hike was steep, but morning sunrise was completely worth it! 100% recommend this hike with Edvin.

We had a phenomenal experience. Salvador was an excellent guide. He was punctual, communicated well and is very knowledgeable about Guatemala. A true ambassador for not only Guatemala but Central America. What I appreciated most about Salvador was his patience. One of my sisters realized she is not in the best shape and we stopped frequently to allow her to catch herself. He was very kind and encouraging. I was prepared to not go all the way if she felt she couldn’t do it but with Salvador’s patience we did it! The view is spectacular and immediately etched in your memory for eternity , just absolutely gorgeous. It’s rainy season here, and it rains about everyday. A walking stick and good lighting is helpful. Salvador provided us with a headlamp and I had two travel flashlights. The uphill hike is almost entirely in the dark. I’m in good shape and hike regularly, and was fine uphill with good lighting. Downhill caution , because of the rain it’s muddy and the slip and slide was rough on the knees. I’m pretty well traveled and have seen some pretty spectacular views. The views of the lake , the surrounding cities, mountains and volcanoes is now definitely amongst my favorites. Thank you Salvador
