Hassan II Mosque
Our first stop is the majestic Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque in Morocco and the second largest in Africa. It boasts an intricate design and is one of the few mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslims for guided tours. Its 210-meter-tall minaret dominates the skyline, and its location on the Atlantic coastline provides stunning views of the ocean. Learn about its unique architectural features, including its retractable roof and intricate mosaics.

My gf and I had booked this private tour, key word “private” and ended up in a group of 8 people because the guide sent us a WhatsApp group chat asking if we were all ok with consolidating the travel plans to one shuttle bus because all of the people that had booked this were coming off the same cruise. We didn’t want to but felt obligated to say yes because we didn’t want to be the “bad guys” of the group. We later discussed a certain discount because our private tour was now a group tour and we payed the extra money for the private tour and their response was “Well you agreed to doing it as a group”. The itinerary listed was not followed and we felt like they were just “winging it”. We did visit some of the sites that were listed but we felt very confused as to what we were doing next. When it came to riding the camels there were initially 8 people for only two camels. When I mentioned that this was not going to work they summoned two more camels that came after a while. We ate at a decent restaurant which was included in our cost but when it came to leaving they wanted us to all pay for all of our drinks. People only had either a cola or water but we all ended up paying for our bottle of water or cola which left us a little salty. It wasn’t the actual cost that left us shaking our head but simply the principle of having to pay for something that should've been included in the first place. Overall, my gf and I did this excursion to ride the camels which we were happy to do but this specific day tour was definitely not worth the money.

This was my first booking through Viator and it was a really terrible tour. We did an 8 hour tour of Casablanca and learned nothing about Casablanca. Our guide was from Boston and he talked about Boston the entire day? Wanna know a good place to eat pizza in Boston? We now know. He was not only the least informative guide I’ve ever had, but he brought up US politics and then got customers on the tour talking about it. When we booked this tour, we asked for vegetarian options for the lunch. When we got to the lunch, all they offered was beef or chicken. Then the guide made a big deal to everyone at the table that we don’t eat meat. Really awkward, as we were making do with the salad. It felt like a really long, aimless tour. The only good things I can say are that the pre-tour communication was great and it was so nice to be able to have chat communication with the tour company. The camel ride set-up was nice, too. I’d avoid this tour and company next time, though.
