Avoid the touristy pintxo tours that flood the city nowadays. San Sebastian is Pintxos, yes but goes further beyond that. Locals go to the traditional food markets and buy some of their goodies in the deli-shops that hide among the street.
I want to show you the real food scene of San Sebastian. In our visit to the markets we willl talk directly to the pople behind them and we will get to taste some of their selected products. While we walk around the city learning about history and culture we will make stops in vibrant bars where will be surrounded by a piicturesque mix of locals and travelers. The day will start with an introduction of the history of San Sebastian. From the foundation to nowadays we will keep talking about hoow this beautiful ciity has become one of the biggest foodie city in the world
Mercado de San Martin
We will head our way to one of the main food markets of the city where the Donostiarras (San Sebastians citizens) buy their weekly fresh veggies, meats and fishes. We won't leave the market without having tasted some local delicacies like cheese or charcuterie

5.00Juan is incredible. He is so knowledgeable and so amazing at curating experiences for people based on their interests. My wife and I took our honeymoon in Spain and he organized everything for us, gave us hotel recommendations, drove us everywhere, we biked, we walked, we ate, we laughed. It was the perfect private experience we were looking for. We can’t recommend Juan enough!!!

5.00I was on a solo trip around Spain and decided to stop by San Sebastian for its amazing food. There was no better tour to fulfill my savory desires than the one provided by Rooters. I felt like I was amongst friends catching up while drinking Txakoli and grubbing on some cheesecake from La Viña. One of the most memorable tastes that stayed with me was that of the GILDA, very acidic, very shocking, very unique. I will be recommending this tour to all my acquaintances that pass by the beautiful basque country.

Learnt about the local culture , the local wines, the local food ( going to a variety of pinxos bars for tastings) and getting recommendations on where to eat. Juan was the perfect host who took us to places he and his family frequent . That’s what a tour should be about.

5.00Juan is the absolute BEST guide in San Sebastián! My husband and I enjoyed an evening pintxos tour with Juan as our guide. Upon meeting him, we knew we were in for a treat. He is inviting and low key, but also full of passion about his city and region. He is incredibly knowledgeable about all things food and wine and has a gift for communicating in an effortless way. As a native to the area, Juan took us to all the top notch spots. Each provided a unique bite and ambiance. We learned so much about the city and the Basque culture as we weaved through the streets of Old Town. We didn't want our tour to end. The following day Juan provided us with a comprehensive list of all the pintxo bars we visited and the items we tried. He also gave us amazing recommendations on restaurants and activities to do during our stay. We still talk about our San Sebastián experience with friends & family. It was a dream. Juan will give you an experience you will never forget. Do yourself a favor and book any of his available tours. He is truly a gem in San Sebastián!

5.00I been on many city tours….This was truly outstanding! Juan treated us to the best tour imaginable. His knowledge of the history and culture of San Sebastián provided us an experience you could never receive anywhere else. His food tour of the best local restaurants was just amazing. His humor and charm was also the best. This was the best part of our 2 week vacation. Scary-Costco Juan
