What To Expect

Paddle together through the calm waters of Lake Rotoiti along the shore line, gliding past native New Zealand bush while you learn the myths and the legends of the area as the sun is setting over the lake. Adventure into the cave and be greeted by a constellation of Glowworms only to emerge and be greeted by the starlit waters underneath the Milky Way The tour is suitable for all ages with no previous experience required. This Kanu tour can operate in almost all weather conditions

We had a wonderful evening with our tour guides on the big Kanu! Our tour was on Christmas Eve and we were blessed with clear, calm weather. Georgia, the guide at the front of the boat made the night extra special, with her addition of delicious hot chocolate, Christmas Crackers, and fairy lights! Both guides had excellent knowledge of the local nature and Māori stories about the area and especially the “glow worms”. Paddling the Kanu was easy, very light work, and not required from everyone. This was such a fantastic experience and we highly recommend it.
