We purchased tickets for the Birthplace, which also included entry to New Place. While it was good to have access to both, we do feel the ticket price is quite high for what you get. £52 for two adults feels excessive given that you are essentially walking around a house and garden. It’s an interesting experience, but I wouldn’t say you’d be missing out on something essential if you chose not to go. We visited Shakespeare’s Birthplace and New Place during our trip and found it really interesting to see both sites. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and more than happy to answer questions and provide extra information. Shakespeare’s Birthplace was good to walk around, especially considering the history behind it. New Place was also lovely to see, although it was a little disappointing that the gift shop there wasn’t open during our visit and last admission was 14:30pm.

We travelled down from the Wirral especially to visit as my eldest daughter loves Shakespeare and really wanted to see his town. My youngest is home educated and I was hoping she might learn something interesting from the experience. As a family of four, the tickets came to just under £100 so we were expecting something good. Whilst it was interesting seeing Shakespeares birthplace, there was very little else to see. The modern museum bit offered practically no information about him. The items on display had no relevance to the man himself. The rooms had been mocked up with furniture and decor, but added nothing to the experience. It would have been better to leave the rooms empty and let visitors use their imagination. I think it's pretty disgusting to charge the extortionate prices for entry, it certainly was not worth it! (We were even asked to make an extra donation!) Its such a shame that only relatively wealthy families would be able to visit something like this. If you want to learn about Shakespeare, get on Google and save your pennies!

Not knocking the work of the charity who maintain and run the house, but the price for a family of 4 being £80 is eye watering. We paid expecting to be wowed and of course the house itself and garden are amazing, but the entrance film tells you nothing about Shakespeare and a lot of the artefacts were about the area rather than the house and person. Pushing us through an equally overpriced gift shop at the end signed off my impression of what could have been a great attraction,

Interesting place but shame about the very rude staff. Obviously this is a fascinating please steeped in history… but the guides were incredibly rude, superior, difficult and unpleasant. A very poor customer experience. We lost a child at one point, the guide’s response was “how careless,” and I had to ask her to please use the radio to try to alert others and find the child. Even this was done reluctantly and ineffectively. It is not obvious you are going into the gift shop at the end and as such I missed the toilet. I immediately turned round at the little gate and was refused (rudely) to be allowed back to go the adjacent loo. It was not even busy and I could have easily been supervised. Instead I was sent through the gift shop, back out into the street and up the road to the start of the tour. There they told me to use the public toilets up the road! I’d just paid £40 for a visit and had to argue with them to allow me to use their toilet. They eventually did so with very bad grace. The security men were lovely and a credit to the place, all the other guides very much let the attraction down. I am sorry tourists must go away thinking all British people are like this.

Today I visited Shakespeare’s Birthplace, and it was a truly fascinating experience. I’ve heard William Shakespeare’s name for so long, but being in the place where he was born made his life feel real in a way books never quite did. Learning about his early life, family, and the world he grew up in gave me a much deeper appreciation for his work. The house itself is full of history and atmosphere, and the stories shared along the way helped me understand not just the writer, but the man behind the name. I left feeling inspired and grateful for the chance to learn so much about someone whose words have lasted for centuries. A must-visit for anyone curious about literature, history, or Shakespeare himself.

Interesting. Guides are excellent. There was live theatre in the gardens which drew a crowd. The videos in the museum are basic and seemed like an excuse to have a high tech immersive video with little thought to the content. The house itself is well worth seeing though.

My wife and I went to Shakespeare's Birthplace recently whilst on weekend trip to Stratford upon Avon. Location is in heart of city centre and easy to locate. Recommend to get tickets ahead of time because will get busy especially on weekend. You start in museum type setting describing Stratford in Shakespeare's time. Then you move into actual house. There are multiple guides throughout home and they provide interesting details about the various rooms. That was nice touch. Recommend if in area and very enjoyable experience.

Vastly overpriced. Go down the road to Tudor World, a much better experience for a third of the price. You learn about Shakespeare and everything Tudor.

I was really amazed that the building was still standing. It’s in a small town and seems to be the center of the town. It’s amazing to me that it is still standing.

I was very pleased with my visit. I travelled there via the park and ride. I was happy for it to be open on a Monday and as it was not too busy it allowed me to walk around the exhibition in my own time. It was a very informative visit as it included clear and easy to read information as well as volunteers who were well-informed and attentive to visitor questions. I would recommend the visit.
