What To Expect

Punta Tombo

We start the tour with an approximate trip of 2 hours to Punta Tombo. At the first stop we will be able to observe the replica of the largest dinosaur in the world found in our province (15 minutes). We will continue our itinerary until we arrive at the most important penguin colony in the American continent. (30 minutes approx). Finally we will visit the Punto Tombo Penguin Colony (2 hours approx) In the area you can see Magellanic penguins and we can also see guanacos, piches, maras and other species

After visiting the reserve, we begin our return to Puerto Madryn (2 hours approx) where, if time is sufficient, we can take a city tour, visiting the most important points of our beautiful coastal city. with a duration of 1 hour

We did two tours with Animal Travel and we will definitely book with them again! They were flexible, understanding, patient, and helped us adjust our plans when we made booking errors and wanted to change tour dates. We enjoyed a private auto tour with Guillermo and WOW, it was just perfect. He picked us up from our hotel and we enjoyed a full day with him to see the penguins, wildlife, and beach. He made sure our kids were always comfortable and we chatted the entire day about Argentina and its wonders. He’s very knowledgeable and we felt safe and cared for the entire time. He adjusted the day to align it with our preferences and we really enjoyed our time in nature with him. His passion is tourism and people and he felt like family. We definitely recommend making time for this tour and requesting his guidance!

It was beautiful to go to the penguin, it was time for newborn eggs and pigeons so it was quite an experience. My 4-year-old son enjoyed it especially when the penguins passed by and I could see them walking

I personally didn't enjoy the visit (and this doesn't mean to take away anything of the value of the place). The 3 hours' drive from the cruise port in Puerto Madryn to Punta Tombo and then the one plus miles on foot to the beach is too much for the elderly. I am content that my family and I enjoyed the Magellanic penguins at other locations during our excursion.

We loved this tour. Our guide spoke great English and her commentary was interesting and informative. She was very alert to the needs of her passengers. It was a long drive from Puerto Madryn to Punto Tombo but her commentary made it interesting. The reserve at Punto Tombo was amazing, with penguins the primary attraction, and despite the admonition to stay two metres away from them, they were walking right up to us. Hundreds visible on a lovely curve of beach. Beautiful landscape and seascape colours on this day of clear blue skies. Some fitness is required to take full advantage of the walkways through the reserve. An excellent city/beaches tour followed. And the biggest boxed lunch we've ever had!!

Great experience visiting the penguins! A well organized tour from the entrance to the cruise ship pier. Plentiful lunch. Cecilia made the long ride there and back enjoyable with her knowledge of the area and the reserve. And we parked right next to the buses for the cruise ship tour that cost twice as much.
