We had a great tour in Luxor and the Valley of the Kings. The trip was quite well-organized, and our guide was very knowledgeable about Egyptian history. We would have given a full five-star review, but towards the end of the tour, our guide began arguing with our driver in a local language that we didn’t understand. The argument sounded quite intense and unsettling. We hope they will avoid having disputes in front of customers in the future. Another issue was the group size: it was so large that we needed two cars. All the English-speaking guests were placed in the same minivan, which resulted in not enough seats for everyone. This felt unsafe, especially considering the traffic in Cairo. (The other van was occupied by Italian-speaking tourists.) Thankfully, the ride was short, but it was still uncomfortable in the overcrowded van.

Absolutely amazing day. Ask for Leyla, she was a fountain of knowledge. The whole day was well communicated, well organised and I would do it all over again next visit!

This was the second trip we booked with the same organisers and everything went very smoothly. There wasn't any communication from the drivers upon pick up which was a bit confusing because we expected to be picked up from the hotel and taken to a bus where we would join a group (assumed this is what the £10 surcharge is for). Instead they drove us straight to Luxor which was a very smooth ride in a nice vehicle. We met with our guide Layla who is very passionate and knowledgeable. She is something of a local celebrity and you can see that everyone on the sites and in the city respects her. She was very helpful with giving us tips for navigating the vendors in busy touristy places. There is a lot of walking involved and it is a busy schedule. I would have preferred to start the tour with Karnak as it is truly the most exciting place to explore and there is a lot of ground to cover. We left it for the end of the day and by that time everyone in our group was tired and impacted by the sun and the heat so we only spend under an hour in Karnak - the same time as in the Hatshepsut temple which I don't think is as interesting place to explore. What made a bad impression on this trip is that all payments were expected in GBP for some reason. On all other trips and activities in Hurghada and Cairo everyone has been very flexible with currency and when the advertised price is 10 GBP they have been happy to accept 10 EU or 10 USD instead. That was not the case here. We only had USD and Egyptian Lira and Layla collected our money but according to an unrealistic higher conversion rate. I thought this was strange, especially given that everywhere else we have been doing 1:1 conversion with the global currencies and the standard (at the time of travel) 1000 Egyptian Lira = 20 USD. This did detract from the experience but all together it was a very good day and I feel like a learned a lot and made some good memories.
