Black Desert
The Black Desert is a region of volcano-shaped and widely spaced mounds, distributed along about 30 km (19 mi) in western Egypt between the White Desert in the south and the Bahariya Oasis in the north. Most of its mounds are capped by basalt sills, giving them the characteristic black color.
Valley of Agabat
Agabat, known as the ‘Beautiful Valley’, is located in the Western Desert region of Egypt and generally is the stop off point for tourists on their way to Bahariya and the White/ Black Deserts. About a 4 hour 40 minute drive from Cairo and over 6 hours from Alexandria, the route will take you from the busy Cities into the peaceful and sparse lands into the desert regions with stunning views en route. There are no settlements at all in Agabat as the land is barren and extreme temperatures in the summer months would make living extremely harsh. Whilst Agabat is smaller and considered a small valley in comparison to the Bahariya area, it is nonetheless stunning in it’s own unique way. With beautiful mountain formations and many white cliff faces similar to the White Desert, it also immerses into the sand dunes linked alongside the Sahara Desert and unusual yellow limestone rocks. The sides of the mountains here are higher and steeper than the route leading to Bahariya and Farafra.
White Desert
The white desert is the most popular and interesting area in the Western Desert. The white desert became a protected area since 2002. It occupies a surface area of around three thousand kilometers. On the road that goes between Farafra and Baharya, one can see the first bizarre rock formation in the white desert. Some rocks look like animals, mushrooms, and some rocks have totally strange shapes, The famous and dramatic gleaming chalk landscape of the Farafra Depression is one of the most astounding natural wonders of Egypt. The strange rock formations that rise above the white surface of the desert are known as inselbergs (from the German for ‘island mountain, The rock layers were deposited when the desert was underwater and marine fauna which died settled at the bottom of the ocean forming sedimentary rocks. Viewing the sparkling white landscape covered with almost supernatural shapes spectacularly lit at dawn, midday and especially sunset there.

Amazing experience in the White and Black Deserts! I knew from the photos they would be beautiful, but seeing them in person was absolutely incredible. Sleeping under the stars and enjoying the delicious dinner our driver prepared made it even more special. It wasn’t cold at all during the night, and the whole experience was truly once in a lifetime. I feel so grateful and lucky to have lived it. 🌟 Thanks to Amir and our driver especially. As a bit of constructive feedback, I’d say it might be better to split the visit to the deserts more evenly between the first and second day. The first day felt a bit rushed, and most people prefer to take their time and really enjoy each spot. Also, the lunch on the first day wasn’t as good as the dinner, the chicken nuggets were cold and we had to leave so quickly that I couldn't even finish my meal. The second day, on the other hand, was quite relaxed, and in our tour no one even went into the hot springs. Even with those little details, I totally recommend this tour 100%!!

A great experience. The tour started at the right time And we were a group of 10 in one big van AC. Very polite driver, great food and they knew all the good locations . The place of camping was excellent and we could see the Milky Way. Ahmed our 4x4 driver is also a great cook and we had a great time. Highly recommend. The tour ends at 4-5 pm the next day so you can plan accordingly.

This trip was fantastic. Everything was kept to a timely and organised manner. I was also comfortable for the entirety of the trip. I had a lot of fun sand boarding, and being driven through the desert terrain. The sights were spectacular and the overnight experience was breathtaking and superb.

Great experience in the desert, we mostly visited the white desert and slept in the black desert. Our driver Zizou was your kind but hardly spoke English so we had almost no explanation, which is a shame. We also missed the sunset, although the meal and night were then excellent.

It was an amazing experience! The pickup location was communicated via WhatsApp the day before. On the day of the event, there was a message that the pick-up time would be delayed, so I could wait with peace of mind. The nine of us made it halfway to the event and split into two groups. At night, I used my sleeping bag to see the stars in the full sky. I saw a lot of shooting stars! The desert on October nights is comfortable, neither hot nor cold. "After the tour, I told the staff at a hotel in Cairo that it was $120 because it cost so much, and they said, "Good price."" I was happy with the content and the price! I recommend it.

We had fantastic experience despite reaching late due to road closure. We visited crystal mountain, coral reef, white desert, rocks forming so many different shapes like Rabbit, chicken, … and wrapped up the long and hot day with ice cream while chasing sunset. Finally we camped at black desert and after a freshly cooked dinner we clicked photos of the Milkyway galaxy and various constellations. Results surprised as I never thought that Milky-way could be captured by a phone, without needing other special gear. Throughout this trip, Aeaidy was with us. He drives like Schumacher, clicks pics like a professional (some of them especially at the moon cave is breathtaking) and cooks delicious food (for us it was vegetarian and for kid it was chicken). His energy is infectious and song selection takes time to get used to, nevertheless energised us while travelling😃. All in all an amazing guy to accompany for this trip 👏👏👏

An experience definitely worth trying. They picked us up at our hotel in Giza to take us about 4h (by mini bus) from there to the resort. Nice even if the stay was just a few hours. Lunch was on offer, drinks excluded. After the meal we got on Karim's 4x4 that guided us to discover the desert naked and raw. Karim with his discretion and tranquility was the human representation of the desert. Quiet, but talkative. Along with the Koran on the radio, it was the landscapes that were the protagonists in what in our opinion was an unforgettable experience. You can't tell the desert, you have to live it. The desolation, the silence at night, the darkness, the stars, are just words but once they come to life and become narrators of Bedouin life. The visits included in this order: the resort, the crystal mountain, sandboard in the dunes, white desert, black desert, night in the black desert with dinner and Bedouin tea (really special, from Libya). Morning next breakfast, sulphurous oasis and we returned to the resort to leave with destination Giza. Karim the best, provided us with everything we needed. P.S. It was possible to choose whether to sleep in a tent or under the stars. The night in the desert we were alone, not in a village. It was all Karim. Really a nice person.
