Stratford's famous WalkTalkShow is a fascinating and entertaining guided tour through the entire history of Stratford, from its humble 7th Century beginnings. You will learn all about the town, William Shakespeare and the buildings and events that punctuate a history spanning 14 centuries.
The tour has 20 stops - each one used to illustrate key historical details; both about the Bard and his hometown. Just how significant was the Guild of the Holy Cross [founded in 1269] to local history - and who was the enigmatic Hugh Clopton?
See Harvard House (1596), the birthplace of the man who went on to start America's first and most famous University. Shakespeare frequented all five of the taverns from his day that survive to this - and you still can. You will also learn a lot about the greatest writer ever as well as the iconoclastic forces of English history that shaped the man, his home town, the British Isles - and consequently the wider world. We had the pleasure of having Kate as our tour guide and she was brilliant from start to finish. She was prompt and organised which immediately put us at ease and her knowledge of the town's history was both impressive and engaging. What really stood out to us was the attention to detail - she didn't just give the big picture of Shakespeare's life and town's heritage, but also included lots of small, fascinating details which really brought the history to life. On top of that she also sprinkled in lots of quirky and fun facts along the way which made the experience more memorable. If you're visiting I'd highly recommend booking a tour with her - you'll come out not just informed but also smiling!! ☺️

Glynda was a very knowledgeable and engaging guide. She answered all our questions fully and brought the subject to life with a good sense of humour. We especially enjoyed her insights into how the origins of many everyday words and phrases go back to Shakespeare’s time. Her deep knowledge and passion for the subject made the tour both informative and entertaining.
