Explore the Nocturnal Side of Tortuguero – Small Group Experience (6 Pax)
Experience Tortuguero’s rainforest like never before on a guided night walk that reveals the hidden world of nocturnal wildlife. Follow a certified naturalist guide through jungle trails and discover creatures that only emerge after dark. Watch as red-eyed tree frogs call from the leaves, snakes glide silently along branches, and birds sleep perched high above.
Designed for small groups of up to 6 guests, this 2-hour tour offers an intimate, educational experience focused on the unique behaviors and adaptations of nocturnal species. Learn how these elusive animals navigate the night and uncover the secrets of the rainforest’s after-dark ecosystem.
The tour begins and ends at Tree Coffee House, conveniently located near Tortuguero’s main dock. Flashlights are provided to ensure a safe and immersive journey into the rainforest at night.

What To Expect
Meeting Point – Tree Coffee House (15 minutes) Arrive at Tree Coffee House, located next to Tortuguero’s main dock, where your guide will provide a brief introduction to the tour and distribute flashlights. Before heading into the rainforest, the guide will explain safety guidelines and what to expect from the night walk.

Night Walk – Jungle Trails (1.5 hours) As the sun sets, the rainforest awakens with a chorus of nocturnal sounds. Follow your guide through hidden jungle paths and discover creatures that only come out after dark. • Red-Eyed Tree Frogs: Spot these colorful amphibians as they call from leaves and branches. • Sleeping Birds: Look for toucans and herons perched silently in the trees. • Insects and Spiders: Observe stick insects, tarantulas, and glowing beetles emerging after dark. • Snakes: Discover non-venomous species camouflaged along branches or moving silently across the ground. Throughout the walk, your guide will share insights about each species, highlighting their behaviors, survival strategies, and the vital role they play in Tortuguero’s nocturnal ecosystem.

5.00Daniel helped us spot so many species of wildlife…including a Kinkajou, an Anteater, several sloths, a green vine snake, frogs 🐸, and a nesting hummingbird! We were also accompanied by a canine companion throughout the walk. Don’t miss out on this night walk !

5.00„We did the combo tour with Travel Tortuguero, consisting of a guided night walk, a canoe trip through Tortuguero‘s waterways and a hike along the Jaguar Trail. Boa and his team were a great help when we organized everything and were amazing when it came to their knowledge about the plants and animals around. They expertly spottet things where we just wouldn’t have seen it ourselves. 5.00The 5-star Night Tour of Tortuguero was an exciting experience! In the dark, a whole new world opens up, and we never imagined how many animals are active at night – and how close you can get to them. We saw many animals that we would have missed during the day. Our guide Boa was just top! He was extremely familiar with the nightlife and knew exactly where to look. Boa gave us a lot of interesting information and explained everything in such a way that you really learned something without it becoming boring. The tour was exciting, safe, informative and full of special moments. A unique experience that you won’t soon forget. Very clear 5 stars – absolutely make it!

His explanations guide you in a hypnotic way and he is able to do it in such a dynamic and fun way that the tour flies by. We discovered all the species of animals he proposed and also with the help of his girl - Cristina - nothing escaped! We took one of the best experiences we have ever had on this trip, a pleasure Mae. PURE LIFE!

4.00The best thing about the night tour was the guide, "Boa", who with his experience, knowledge and humor, enlivened us a tour not very fruitful in terms of animal watching, since he did not give the opportunity to see them. Anyway, the experience of looking for animals at night and saving a blizzard, was certainly worth it
