What To Expect

Immerse yourself in an authentic truffle-hunting adventure through the scenic Tuscan countryside. The experience begins at Podere La Marronaia, where you will meet our licensed guides and expert truffle hunters, Mirco and Luca. Accompanied by their highly trained dogs, you’ll head to a nearby truffle-rich area, learning how to identify the ideal truffle habitat, recognize the trees where they grow, and understand the delicate art of truffle hunting. You will witness the excitement of the dogs as they sniff out these underground treasures and feel the satisfaction of uncovering one of nature’s most prized delicacies. After the hunt, return to Podere La Marronaia for a detailed introduction to our family history and agriculture. Then, indulge in a truffle-based lunch, thoughtfully paired with our organic wines, extra virgin olive oils, and balsamic vinegar, for a true farm-to-table experience celebrating the flavors of Tuscany.

Luca was the perfect host. He allowed for hands-on with the dogs, with the truffles and being able to hike through the woods of Tuscany. I love to cook but, given the shortage of truffles in the United States, I can't say I ever really understood the flavors or anything about them other than what I had seen on TV, so I wanted to get up close and personal with them. This tour was the perfect tour for me, and my wife, who just tagged along, had a great time as well. We ended with lunch at the restaurant with wine tasting, local fare and plenty of dishes served with truffles so I really got a good taste. It was a really great opportunity to see how it all works up close as well as taste lots and lots of truffles to the point that I understand them now and can picture the flavor whenever I see them on some of my favorite cooking programs. I can say that the mystery has been removed for me.

The truffle hunt was a great experience. We got to meet two hunting dogs, and learn from an expert hunter. We explored some of the nearby woods, even taking turns leading one of the dogs to find a dig spot. They were finding lots of truffles and it was such a cool experience! I was a little disappointed because I thought I booked the cooking experience as well but it just included lunch and a wine tasting at the vineyard. The vineyard was gorgeous. The lunch was nice, however we were seated as group with another couple that booked the same experience but that we didn't know. They were nice to talk to but as it was our honeymoon I would've liked to enjoy our meal separately. They also served the meal family style which was a little odd. I wouldn't have minded so much to share a table if we were each served our own plated meal at least. The wine and appetizers were very very good, the pasta and dessert were ok. In total we spent about 3 hours between the hunt and lunch experience.

Luca and his two amazing dogs Lilly and Luna made for a memorable morning in the woods. We found many truffles during the hunt and his knowledge and passion was amazing. If you are looking for the best truffle hunter look no further!

This was probably our favorite activity in all of Italy namely because of Luca and his wonderful dogs. We were the only ones doing the experience so we got to control the dogs and dig out the truffles ourselves. We found quite a few and had a great time with the dogs. It is a truly unique experience and Luca was awesome. The wine tasting with olive oil was also very nice and had beautiful views. Couldnt recommend more.

We visited this winery after a fantastic morning spent truffle hunting in the woods. The winery property is beautiful, the food was divine, and most importantly the wine was wonderful. I ordered some wine to be sent home to the United States after that trip. I just placed a new order after drinking all that I had ordered previously. I became a lifelong customer.

If you're looking for an authentic, educational, and truly memorable experience that connects you with nature and a unique culinary experience, this is the tour. Our truffle-hunting guide Luca was very attentive and an expert in the field. Our family and I had so much fun with the dogs Lily and Lena, who were very good at finding truffles!! An adventure I will remember forever. The truffle lunch at the winery was FABULOUS!!!! Beautiful views, food, and service. Five stars aren't enough – it's an experience I'll cherish forever!

Luca was really friendly and very knowledgeable, he took the time to explain everything and answered all of our questions. The dogs were amazing and even the 5 month old"in training" found some truffles. It was an amazing experience and then on our return to La Marronaia, we had a wonderful lunch with truffles. The staff were very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions, their knowledge of the wines and the area surrounding made the entire experience, one to remember. Grazie

If we could give Luca and his dogs more than five stars, we would! This was a highlight of our time in Italy! Luca is extremely informative and kind; we had so much fun learning about truffles and spending time with Luca, Lena, and Lily! If you’re in the area, this is a must!
