Stop 1: Okotoks Erratic – A Prehistoric Introduction Start your day with a visit to the Okotoks Erratic, one of Canada’s most impressive glacial features. This massive boulder, weighing an estimated 16,000 tons, was transported by glaciers during the last Ice Age over 10,000 years ago. As you approach the erratic, you’ll be struck by its sheer size and the incredible history that it represents—this rock traveled more than 100 kilometers from its origin in the Rocky Mountains. Standing next to this geological marvel, you’ll feel a deep connection to the land’s ancient past. There’s a small interpretive center nearby where you can learn more about the erratic's significance and the area's glacial history before heading on your way.
Cowboy Trail
Stop 2: Scenic Drive Down the Cowboy Trail After getting your fill of ancient history, hop in the car and head down the Cowboy Trail, a scenic drive that winds through the breathtaking foothills of the Rockies. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into the pages of an old Western as towering peaks rise against the sky, while wide-open grasslands stretch out around you. This route is famous for its dramatic landscapes and opportunities for wildlife sightings—keep your eyes peeled for bison, elk, and the occasional pronghorn antelope roaming across the fields. The trail also offers plenty of picturesque pullouts where you can stop, stretch your legs, and soak in the views. It’s the perfect way to get your first taste of the wild beauty of Waterton Lakes National Park.

Sue was absolutely amazing and I had a fantastic time during the Waterton tour. It was a long day from 7am to 10pm but we covered so much, it was totally worth it. Sue took to stunning waterfalls, hikes, lakes, the Price Hotel, the visitor center area, bison viewing, and even passed by some other small towns and monuments along the way to the park like the landslide, big rock, etc. She had water, bunch of snacks, etc. for us to munch on during this long day and made stops along the way for lunch, restroom/coffee breaks, etc. Thanks a lot Sue - had an awesome day with you!!

Absolutely loved my trip to Waterton with Sue! From the moment we set off, I knew it was going to be a good time, but it turned out to be way more than I bargained for. Sue’s knowledge of the area is unmatched—she’s got the inside scoop on all the best spots, the hidden gems, and the kind of details you wouldn't get from any guidebook. We hit all the classic sights, but she also took us on some off-the-beaten-path hikes that were absolutely breathtaking. Her energy is contagious—she knows how to make the trip fun without being over the top. Whether it was chatting about the wildlife or pausing for photos, there was never a dull moment. Plus, her laid-back style made everything feel stress-free, so we could really take in the experience without feeling rushed. And yes, there was a bit of the unexpected thrown in, like a surprise encounter with a curious bear (from a safe distance, of course), which was pretty wild! What really stood out was the personal touch Sue added to everything. It didn’t feel like a cookie-cutter tour; it felt like hanging out with a friend who happened to know every cool thing about Waterton. It was definitely more than just a trip—it was an experience I’ll be talking about for years. Highly recommend!
