Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque
Hagia Sophia is one of the most iconic and historically significant buildings in the world. Originally constructed as a cathedral by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I between 532 and 537 AD, it was the largest cathedral in the world for nearly a thousand years. The building is renowned for its massive dome, which was considered an engineering marvel of its time and remains one of the greatest examples of Byzantine architecture. Over the centuries, Hagia Sophia has served different religious functions, reflecting the changing dynamics of the region. In 1453, after the Ottoman Empire conquered Constantinople (now Istanbul), the cathedral was converted into a mosque by Sultan Mehmed II. Despite these changes, Hagia Sophia remains a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is a major tourist attraction, drawing millions of visitors each year who come to admire its rich history, stunning mosaics, and intricate design.
Blue Mosque
The Blue Mosque, or Sultan Ahmed Mosque, is a historic mosque in Istanbul, Turkey, built between 1609 and 1616 by Sultan Ahmed I. It’s famous for its stunning blue İznik tiles that adorn the interior and its six minarets, a unique feature at the time. The mosque is a masterpiece of classical Ottoman architecture, with a grand central dome, expansive courtyard, and intricate design elements. Located near Hagia Sophia, it remains an active place of worship and a major tourist attraction, known for its beauty and historical significance.

Mehmet showed my husband and I all the wonders of Istanbul with enthusiasm and knowledge. We thoroughly enjoyed the 7 hour tour which included a stop for a delicious and abundant Turkish lunch. Having a private van was also great. We walked 15,000 steps and had lovely weather. Ask for Mehmet (Matt); you will be very satisfied.

KENAN was truly exceptional guide, made our day perfect…if he could only control the weather… He made the wait for entrances short and convenient…a true student of history who explained everything in a wonderful and humorous manner… I will specifically ask for Kenan for a future tour…best, mark rubin

If you are looking for an authentic Istanbul experience, look no further than Sabit Kara. We booked a private tour and were blown away by his expertise and hospitality. Sabit was great at accommodating our specific schedule and ensured we saw everything we wanted at our own pace. What we appreciated most was the 'local' feel of the day. Instead of the usual tourist traps, he brought us to a local spot for a meal that was both high-quality and very affordable. You can tell Sabit loves his city, and that passion is infectious. By the end of the tour, it felt like we were being guided by an old friend. Thank you, Sabit!

Our guide, Musa, was very flexible, charismatic, and had exceptional depth of knowledge. He really knew his way around, and engendered a new interest in the storied history of Istanbul and the wider region. We’ll look him up the next time we’re in town to see even more from his perspective.
