Captain Jaren was absolutely wonderful. He grew up in Sitka, Alaska and has been driving boats since he was in middle school. Because of this, he knew all the best places to take us in the Sitka sound to see otters, seals, and whales of all variety. On our trip in early June at 1:30 in the afternoon, we saw multiple types of whales, as well as bald eagles, seals, and sea otters. my family and I love this activity on our visit to Alaska.

The only wildlife we saw were a sea lion at the harbor, seagulls, and a couple of whales from a far distance. The other tour boats were going to where the whales were but we stayed away. Very disappointing. Was originating to give a 3 star review but the tour operator gave my personal contact information to another person on the tour. Needless to say I was shocked getting texts from someone I don’t know.

The small boat tour is ideal for those who don’t want a crowded cattle call experience. Captain Jaren was fantastic! He made sure we each got to see our wish list wildlife - otters, sea lions, grey whales, humpbacks lunge feeding and majestic bald eagle. And the bonus was the spectacular secluded inlet with water like glass and views that put postcards to shame, all wrapped up in a perfect 2 hours. Thank you, Jaren, for a great visit to Sitka!
