I am still basking in the smiles of memory of an unforgettable adventure with my beloved. We went for our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. It was worth the long flight (yes, we flew for almost 16 hours). Being from the Caribbean (Trinidad and Tobago to be exact), the largest animal here is a deer or an ocelot. You can therefore imagine the awe and wonder seeing a herd of elephants (9 in all) walk right up to the lounge area almost posing for our picture! We also had the pleasure of seeing a pride of lions and many other animals like jackals, zebra, impala, kudus, giraffes, warthogs! Such a delight! The awesome majesty of God's creation, right at my doorstep. One word to describe the service, cleanliness and general ambiance... UNFORGETTABLE!!!

What can I say wow wow, sadly we didn’t see the big five this time but we saw lions, hyena and much more. It was breathtaking to see animals in their own habitat. The days were long but entirely worth it if you are a nature lover. We booked the trip through Get the Guide. How host Julius was very knowledgeable and very hospitable. I only wish I’d done 4 days instead of 3. Saltlick lodge was in an absolutely stunning setting as was Voi Lodge. I would say is that it’s not for the faint hearted you are stood up for several hours at a time on very bumpy roads

Beautiful lodge and well inserted in the savannah. Small but cozy rooms, common parts really many nice. The food is great. Beautiful underground tunnel. Elephants come very close. The surrounding park is beautiful with many animals

We paid extra to have a private vehicle and driver. The driver showed no real interest in the 3 days with limited interaction which made it awkward at times. The first lodge we stopped for lunch and told to eat outside and it was a very windy day. So that was not great. The first drive was Tsavo East which was amazing seeing lots of animals including elephants giraffes ostrich zebra and lions. The first lodge we stayed at was Taita Hills which was amazing. The lodge was so beautiful and the rooms and staff were fantastic. The food was also great . A very calm romantic lodge. The next drive we were told we were going Tsavo West but we did not leave the nature reserve so did not see hardly any animals very disappointing. The final lodge Salt Lick was lovely but manic and very busy. Rooms were small and food was ok but the real negative was the staff were very rude and unapproachable so I would advise not to go to this lodge. The night drive we saw a lioness hunting and the final morning we saw a couple of cheetahs. Would I do it again yes to Taita Hills definitely no to Salt Lick. Overall ok saw animals but awful driver and guide.

Be careful rip it off. He promises a lot, then the room is not paid for the car was defective and we had to wait 4 h in Mombasa for a replacement car. Then the first night he didn't have enough money to pay for the room. Then the good car was pulled off again and replaced with defective ones. The next day Salt Lick Lodge booked and beaten in the back room of Shimba Hills. After departure, the said vehicle went out in the middle of the highway and did not start. Out of luck, after 2 hours another Enterprise brought us safely to the hotel. The 150€ extra was not refunded to us either. Never again with this Enterprise.

I gotta say that my wife and I actually enjoyed majority of our stay. The staff were really friend service was great clean accommodations and overall impress. While there we noticed that some staff were always on edge. We also do an incident where an Indian supervisor was berating some kitchen staff. That was thoroughly disturbing for us to witness. There is no mistake that would ever deserve such a response from a supervisor. Was shocking to say the least. Please let’s do better and stop perpetuating racist and abusive behavior. I hope that the Lodge provided a genuine apology to the kitchen staff and proper safety measures are taken for the beloved underpaid employees. Do better Salt lick Safari lodge
