Hello I am disappointed after paid online in order to go to this show when i arrive to mombasa. since it’s festive season i was afraid is fully booked so i paid early through mpesa. When i texted the whatsapp of the official page he said we don’t have any shows . i asked him to refund me and shared my mpesa message , he ignored my request and didn’t refund me.

Not sure if the light show is good or not. Took an Uber and arrived at the location only to discover that the show is seasonal and stopped for the season 1-2 months prior.

I've given it 1* as there was no option for a 0* as this would have been my preferred rating. The tickets cost £66. I chose the 8pm display thinking it would be darker and we would get a better effect from the lights. The reviews were good, the pictures and videos advertising this event looked great, I was excited for the light, sound, laser, pyrotechnic and fireworks display that I was expecting. I was looking forward to the night Fort tour lit by 500 candles and customised lighting, it advertised overall an 'Enchanting Experience' On arrival, once inside the Fort we were told we could walk around anywhere...it was pitch black, we had to use our phone torches to see where we were walking, there were uneven pathways, steps and many unguarded drops - it was dangerous. No opportunity to take any decent pictures as it was so dark Just before 8pm we made our way to the 9 plastic garden chairs that had been set out ready for the sound and light show, and waited. The show started with the projection onto the wall of the Fort with narrative, the website made the colours look clear and vibrant, being able to see every detail against the Fort wall. In reality you could see shapes and outlines moving but little definition, clarity and even less vibrant colour. No lasers, no holograms and the 'grand finale pyrotechnics show' consisted of 4 of the most pathetic bangers that rose around 3-4 feet into the air and an even more pathetic cluster of fountain/roman candle, all over in less than 1 minute. The whole experience left me speechless, for the wrong reasons. I would not recommend this trip to anyone. Trip Advisor - I would appreciate a response to this, and to find out how to arrange a refund.

I did not even get to see the light show because the crew never showed up without informing me of the cancellation. I had to call and request a refund, which is the only thing that’s making me push this review up to two stars instead of one.

I had seen the flyer at Cafe Ayaz and wanted to experience this new attraction in Mombasa of the Sound and Light Show at Fort Jesus. It was worth the money spent which was 1000ksh (approx. $10) for the adult and 500ksh (approx. $5) for the child (under 4 was free). We made sure to arrive early at 6pm (an hour before the show begins) to enjoy a quick complimentary tour of the fort. The show started at 7pm sharp and it was truly a captivating 30 minutes audio-visual show that showcased the fascinating tale of the fort’s history. It was a great way for the whole family to learn the rich history and culture of Fort Jesus. All the special effects made us enjoy the show even more. I especially loved the fireworks. Unfortunately, it’s only available Thursday to Sunday and not everyday but this is understandable in Mombasa. Overall, we had a great Friday evening at the Fort. Would definitely do it again and would recommend for anyone visiting Mombasa.
