2.00My husband, our 2 twenty somethings and I had just one day in Vancouver City. Our tour guide was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. When our guide picked us up I told him immediately that we wanted to spend some time walking around Gastown. He suggested we do our shopping on Granville Island instead which we were happy to do. Unfortunately the city was very congested that day.... we understood completely - that was out of the driver's control. However, despite knowing that the city was congested and that Granville Island and Gastown were our priorities, the driver did not adjust the itinerary. We began the tour driving through Stanley Park for well over an hour while the driver pointed out several trees. At this point time was tight and he took Granville Island off the itinerary. With just about an our left he drove us to Chinatown. I told him we didnt want to go to Chinatown, that we'd rather go to Gastown. He stopped anyway, insisted we get out and walk around for 5 minutes. At this point we'd been in the van for 2.5 hours and several in our party needed to use the restroom. He walked them to a nearby mall. When they finished he told us he needed to take us back to the hotel because we were out of time. Unfortunately and despite multiple requests we never saw Gastown nor Granville Island, just lots of trees in the Park. For a private and quite expensive tour, I would expect the guide to ask up front what he/she should prioritize and then actually do it! We were so disappointed
