Pachamama Tours
Arrive at our office by 7:30 AM on the day of the hike. Pachamama Tours, located at our hostel, provides all necessary gear (jackets, gloves, hats) and a detailed briefing. Optional Fuego Volcano hikes, snacks, extra gear, and porters are also available for purchase.
Acatenango, La Soledad
The ride from our main office to "La Soledad," the hike’s starting point, takes 45–60 minutes in a shared minibus. The hike to basecamp takes 6 to 8 hours, with scenic breaks along the way, including a stop for lunch (pack essentials like toilet paper!). Upon arrival, marvel at Fuego Volcano’s eruptions under the night sky. Later, gather by the campfire for hot chocolate and Guatemalan rum, followed by a hearty dinner. Accommodation is in our newly built wooden cabins, featuring insulation, sleeping bags, and glass doors to view the eruptions in warmth and comfort. Each cabin has a max capacity of 5 people.
Fuego Volcano
Experience the thrill of standing just 200 meters from Fuego Volcano’s eruptions on this adventurous 3.5-hour round trip! At an altitude of 3,768 meters (12,362 feet), this hike offers a safe yet awe-inspiring vantage point to witness one of Guatemala’s most active volcanoes. Departing at 4 PM, the hike requires intermediate fitness and takes you to the volcano, where you’ll spend 30 minutes watching the eruptions up close. Participants must come prepared with water, a jacket, and a headlamp, as this is a difficult hike. For safety reasons, travelers are not allowed to approach Fuego alone—doing so will immediately end the trip to ensure everyone’s well-being. The price is Q250 per person and Q400 for solo travelers. Join us for an unforgettable adventure!
Turistico Volcan Acatenango
Wake up at 4 AM for a short summit hike and a breathtaking sunrise over the volcanic terrain. Spend 45 minutes soaking in the views before descending to basecamp for a hot breakfast. Afterward, begin your descent to La Soledad, returning to Antigua by 12 PM.

Highly recommended! Pachamama is an amazing company. The tour guides are friendly and very knowledgeable about the culture of Antigua and the Fuego Volcano. Enie is one of the kindest and most helpful guides l've met-truly outstanding. The cabins are beautiful, and the team takes great care of you from start to finish. You won't regret booking with them. Great company, great people-especially Enie!

The volcanic hike was a consistently beautiful and atmospheric experience, which I can highly recommend. From the very beginning you could feel a special atmosphere that immediately captivated you. The path itself was pleasant to walk and always offered moments when you could let the landscape have a calm effect on you. I especially liked that the tour was well organized and you felt safe at all times. Although each section seemed different, the overall impression remained harmonious and impressive, without becoming strenuous or overloaded. Time passed surprisingly quickly because you could just enjoy what was happening around you. Overall, it was a really nice experience that leaves a lasting, positive impression and I would be happy to recommend it – ideal for anyone who wants to experience a pleasant, uncomplicated and harmonious hike in a special environment.

Had a wonderful experience with Enie, Merel and the team at Pachamama. The jeep ride was fun and it was brilliant to get to view Fuego without the exertion of an arduous at-altitude hike. We arrived early at base-camp and enjoyed many eruptions. There was an option to visit Fuego itself or alternatively do a smaller hike for sunset but we were happy to just chill at camp and take in the breathtaking views and this was perfectly fine with the team. Similarly in the morning there was an option to summit Acetenango for sunrise but again, our group were content that we had a great view as it was and the team didn't pressure us to do any extras. The food included was fine, special mention for the sandwich provided for lunch which I thought was delicious! Fuego itself was the undisputed star of the show. We had many big and small eruptions during the day with only the odd one obscured by cloud. Then had loads of great ones once it got dark. The cabins shook with one massive one in the middle of the night! It was honestly one of the best things we've ever witnessed and it would humble anyone seeing how powerful nature can be.

This was such an amazing experience that I would recommend to anyone! I booked a private cabin and Jonathan the owner did one better and set us up with our own private area along with a personal tour guide! Don’t trust the reviews on Google, they are false and not true at all. I can vouch for this company that they are incredible and offer a great service! Jonathan went above and beyond to ensure my group had an amazing time on the 4x4 tour to see an erupting volcano. Josué our guide took great care of us and made sure we were comfortable the entire time and explained things as best he could given the language barrier. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour company/agency for anyone looking to either hike Volcan de Acatenango or go experience this via the 4x4 tour. It is best to reach out and contact via Whatsapp via a quick Google search and they’ll send all the information required and explain the process to book which was swift and smooth.

Amazing experienceeee did the Acatenango hike with this agency and it was, without a doubt, one of the best experiences of my trip. From the very first message, everything felt organized, honest, and clear. The guides were extremely knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about the volcano — you can feel they really know the mountain. The pace of the hike, the breaks, the safety tips, the food, the camp setup… everything was thought through with so much care. I always felt supported, even in the harder parts. And the sunrise view from the summit was something I’ll never forget. If you want an experience that’s authentic, safe, and run by people who truly love what they do, I can’t recommend them enough. It was unforgettable.
