In this tour we will visit the wonderful town of Alberobello (also known as the city of trulli) and Matera
Alberobello was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996 because it is an exceptional example of building construction with prehistoric techniques that have survived intact and are still functioning in the modern world.
A "Trullo" is in fact a small limestone house, made with dry stone walls, roughly worked limestone blocks collected from nearby fields and topped with a conical roof.
Souvenir shops, B&Bs, bars and restaurants will brighten up your stay in Alberobello.
Matera is the city of the Sassi, the original urban nucleus, developed from natural caves dug into the rock and subsequently modeled into increasingly complex structures within two large natural amphitheatres that are the Sasso Caveoso and the Sasso Barisano.

Overall a very good tour. Most of the bus was confused at our first stop, Alberobello, that you get off the bus and walk through towns seeing the sites. I know we missed a few sites. Our tour guide in Matera was awesome! He was great! He took us to the last family that lived in the caves 67 years ago. This was fascinating and a great cool of point too. I would recommend it.
