In this tour we will visit the wonderful town of Alberobello (also known as the city of trulli) and Matera

Alberobello was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996 because it is an exceptional example of building construction with prehistoric techniques that have survived intact and are still functioning in the modern world.

A "Trullo" is in fact a small limestone house, made with dry stone walls, roughly worked limestone blocks collected from nearby fields and topped with a conical roof.

Souvenir shops, B&Bs, bars and restaurants will brighten up your stay in Alberobello.

Matera is the city of the Sassi, the original urban nucleus, developed from natural caves dug into the rock and subsequently modeled into increasingly complex structures within two large natural amphitheatres that are the Sasso Caveoso and the Sasso Barisano.

Fantastic day out. Both places are so different to visit. Highly recommend. I believe our driver was Daniel. Very professional.

Viator need to clarify where the exact pick up point as we had to end up running to the bus. The tour great but the Alberobello tour guide was a little rushed. The olive tasting was excellent and the Matera tour guide was brilliant and very informative. Overall a great day out.

Bus has a TV that shows what you are going to visir and they handle a brochure. Walking tour is optional. Maybe an expanded explication on how the roofs are built would be interesting. Alberobello is a beautiful town. It is a pity there was no way to go inside one of the houses in Matera which makes you wonder how they solved issues like sanitary disposal and ventilation inside a cave

As a solo traveler, I had a few issues: 1. With limited data available, I did not download the app. Perhaps the link could have been emailed the day before when I had wifi. 2. With so much history attached to the place, I would have preferred a human guide, not just a 2 page brief summary.
