In the company of a local guide, you will put your hands in the dough to prepare two symbols of tradition: the focaccia from Bari, queen of street food, soft and crisp with juicy cherry tomatoes, which even beat the Genoese focaccia in a last-ditch challenge, and the handmade orecchiette, prepared according to the ancient Bari technique, celebrated by the New York Times as a heritage to be protected. Unfortunately it was not what we expected - especially for the price!! The „experience“ was not a great one. You get pre-made focaccia dough where you put toppings on top - then they bake it for you and you get to taste it. So nothing special here. Then the lady shows how to roll the Orichiette and you get to try it for a bit. The Orichiette you made are not used for anything though - they are thrown away afterwards…. Then they serve some pre-made Orichiette with basic tomato sauce. That’s it. For 85€ we would’ve expected much more.

The second we walked through the door, we were magically transported back in time to my husband’s grandmothers house…the music, the conversation, the language, the smells, the texture of the dough…all reminiscent of our memories in her Italian kitchen. Thank you for this most amazing experience, it was the best ever!!!

Anna and Alessandrea did an amazing job guiding us through the class. There was just the 4 of us so it was a private class. We made focaccia and orecchiette, due to the time restriction of rising the dough Alessandrea had pre made the dough we used for the food we ate. The food was delicious and we also had local wine. The ladies were both very knowledgeable and we had great fun with them. Thank you
