Our tour begins at the Fisherboy, a sculpture symbolizing Ålesund’s close connection to the sea and fishing. You’ll learn about the city’s origins, the cod trade, and its unique location between fjord, sea, and mountains.
Along the waterfront, we’ll explore Norway’s impressive engineering feats, from underwater road tunnels to elegant bridges linking the islands, with insights into the oil and gas industry’s role in funding these projects.
Next, we discover Ålesund’s Art Nouveau architecture, rebuilt after the 1904 fire, featuring ornate façades, turrets, and symbolic details that reflect optimism and international influences. The King's street showcases the city’s highest concentration of these buildings.
The tour ends on a small hill with panoramic views, where Lukas answers questions and shares tips on the best restaurants and authentic souvenir shops. Small groups ensure a personal, relaxed experience, and private tours offer even more flexibility to tailor your visit.

We loved our tour. My family including my sons ages 15,13 and 11 really enjoyed our walking tour. We loved everything from the architecture, history of the city, information on Norwegian taxes and energy as well as the local connection for best pizza and cinnamon rolls. We felt like we could ask Lucas anything. Highly recommend.
