What To Expect
Brosundet i Alesund
Ålesund is built on 7 islands extending out into the ocean, 2 of them, Narvoy and Aspoy created the charming downtown. We start our tour walking through the town streets. On the night of January 23rd, 1904, a devastating fire raged through Ålesund. Within only 16 hours, 850 houses were burnt down and 10.000 people were rendered homeless. After the fire, only 230 houses were left in Ålesund's town center, but after a remarkable effort from the local people and mostly thanks to helping from Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, and other European countries, the town had been rebuilt already in 1907.

She was very friendly, informative, and a great driver. We learned about Alesund's history and culture. She even treated us to their local cheese and crackers specialties.
