Khor Virap
Visit Khor Virap, one of Armenia’s most cherished spiritual landmarks, set against the stunning backdrop of Mount Ararat. This historic monastery is where Saint Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned for 13 years before converting the Armenian king to Christianity—paving the way for Armenia to become the first Christian nation in the world. You'll descend into the very pit where he was held and hear the powerful story behind it. With panoramic views, deep history, and rich cultural significance, Khor Virap is a place that touches both heart and soul. Let me guide you through its legends, architecture, and unforgettable views.
Areni
Step back in time at Areni-1 Cave, one of Armenia's most fascinating archaeological sites. Nestled in the heart of the Vayots Dzor region, this ancient cave complex is home to some of the world’s oldest discoveries, including the oldest known leather shoe and earliest known winery, dating back over 6,000 years. Walk through the same chambers once used for ritual ceremonies, winemaking, and daily life in the Copper Age. As your guide, I’ll share the cave’s incredible history and the stories unearthed by archaeologists that bring this prehistoric site to life. A must-see for history lovers and curious minds alike!

- Review from Viator
In May I booked the “Authentic Armenian Tour with Local Wine” with Khachatryan’s Tours. The day before the tour, I sent the tour operator a message on the Viator App asking him to confirm the pickup time. As I did not get a response I sent a follow up via both Email and WhatsApp, and attempted to call the number, again not receiving a response. I called Viator who were insistent the tour was still going ahead, and to be at the hotel lobby for 8am. At 08:18, I received a WhatsApp from a different number to the one on the booking, asking me what time I wanted picking up. At this point, he also asked me for some more money. I declined, saying I had already paid through Viator. He then cancelled the booking on Viator and said that I must pay double what I had paid previously, claiming that there was a ‘mix up’. My Viator ticket very clearly stated that the price I booked and paid for was for two people with no additional money to be paid. I was only in Armenia for three days and was really looking forward to this tour, which I missed out on.
