What makes this experience truly special is our use of homegrown vegetables and herbs, cultivated organically right here at the resort. Guests will cook with fresh ingredients straight from our garden, learning how each item supports health and wellness in line with Ayurvedic principles.
Using traditional clay pots, coconut spoons, and firewood stoves, guests will prepare a complete Sri Lankan meal just as it has been done for generations. Our chef shares not only step-by-step techniques but also family secrets and cultural insights that make each dish meaningful.

Step into my grandmother’s kitchen, lovingly recreated to share the heart of Sri Lankan culture and family traditions. Your hands-on cooking classes are set in a quiet village home surrounded by a lush garden, where many of your ingredients are freshly picked. Using a clay hearth and wood fire, together we prepare rich, healthy, and flavorful Sri Lankan meals, just as my family has done for generations. More than cooking, this is a journey into a simple lifestyle—stories, laughter, and cultural exchange with people who love to learn deeply from the places they visit. While your meal simmers, enjoy homemade herbal tea or iced tea, and let the calm setting remind you of the beauty of slow, mindful living. Join us to discover not just food, but a way of life—wholesome, traditional, and unforgettable.

5.00We stayed at Kandy Living Villa and Homestay for two nights and it was a wonderful experience. Out of the bustle of the main city overlooking the family’s farm and gardens it’s a quiet oasis to relax. We attended the cooking course where we learned about all the spices and fruits they grow that are used for making the food on site, and then made a traditional clay pot rice and curry dish which was delicious and so fun! Breakfast, lunch and dinner were delicious and so fresh! The whole family are so welcoming and we would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Kandy.

5.00We just wrapped up our class and had an amazing experience! Even though I arrived 45 minutes late, Sandy was incredibly accommodating and made sure I didn’t miss out. The session was both informative and fun — I learned a lot and genuinely enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

5.00We absolutely loved the cooking class! First we got a very interesteing tour of the garden with a lot of spices and got explained all the benefits of the food. Then the class was held in a traditional outside kitchen. The Auntie showed us how to do everything and everyone was soo nice. The food at the end was delicous! The whole place is really cute and has a calm vibe. We can definetly recommend the cooking class.

5.00The house is gorgeous. Sandy showed us all the amazing plants they grow in their wonderful garden enhancing their uses and beneficial properties, and then cooked us 6 different Sri Lankan curries and other specialties together with her mother, a true force of nature! It is experiences like these that make you appreciate the journey and generosity of this people. Highly recommended. PS everything we cooked then we ate and it was the best meal made in Sri Lanka!
