Traditional Classical Barong Dance The play tells the story of Kunti, the mother of Sadewa, who promised to give her child to the devilish Rangda. However, Kunti was unable to surrender her beloved son to the forces of evil. Of course, this refusal angered the wicked Rangda who bewitched Kunti and her guards, forcing the guards to Sadewa deep into the forest and leave him in front of Rangda’s palace. The Lord Shiva, who witnesses the helplessness of the innocent child, comes down to help Sadewa, granting the boy immortality. Essentially, the play is about how good triumphs over evil. This is generally the underlying theme in most Balinese performances, which through dance, music and drama aim to spread good moral teachings. The most popular Barong Dance at Batubulan in Gianyar, and the Denpasar suburbs. Shows are locally managed locally; dances performed by villagers, and live gamelan orchestra accompanies the full length of the show.
The Balinese traditional compound is basically divided into three parts on which part has different purposes. Applying the directional concept of their traditional compass, holy structures are built at the mountain at the mountain – wards of the compound such as shrines ( head ), in the middle yard are built all structures of living quarter ( body ), and at the seawards for kitchen and remaining land where they usually throw garbage away. A Balinese traditional compound is mostly enclosed either red bricks, sand stones, or odove walls covered with thatch roof made sedge grass or rice stubble. In front of the compound is the entrance gate.On both sides of the entrance walls, there are two niches as the substitution of shrines where , if the family is a bit financially better off they usually construct separate shrines, sometimes elaborate ones.

Well-organized tour and comfortable advance in air-conditioned vehicle. My tour guide Wayan was very inspiring. In addition to his great knowledge of culture and temples, I was able to take a great deal from him about body, mind and soul. I really enjoyed the day tour and got much closer to Balinese culture.

Wayan Aman Suka was the best guide / driver I have ever had on any trip. We used his services for multiple days and he is such a good driver on the on the busy Bali streets. He always drove safely and smoothly but also would pass slow drivers to get us quickly to various points on the island. He took us to a village up in the north with fun waterfalls and natural rock waterslide. He also served as our tour guide through various temples and villages and taught us about Balinese culture. He also made sure we knew the right competitive rates to pay for vendors who sometimes try to overcharge tourists for activities like ATVs and was able to give insight into a bunch of different activities and which were most popular with visitors. His brother also helped drive a bigger group we had for one day. I would highly recommend him to anyone travelling to Bali who needs someone who is an expert driver and can also serve as a guide if needed for any activity!

I don’t think I can articulate how amazing this trio was! And it was all because of Wayan. He was punctual which was super important because we only had a few days in the beautiful Bali. Wayan worked hard to plan the perfect trip for us ( he didn’t just give us a standard itinerary he went above and beyond to include everything I wanted to see!). He would pick us up from our hotel early in the morning ( early for us but late for him) and take us around Bali to our pre planned activity spots. During the drive he would explain in detail what everything meant and the rich culture behind every statue, building and flower we passed ... he even explained why the chicken crossed the road. He wasn’t one of those drivers who over talked either he gave us moments to just take it all in. It was almost like he knows when i was confused and when I was blissfully enjoying the moment while he maneuvered the Bali streets. The best part... one of the best parts was how open and quick he was when I/we changed our minds mid day in what we wanted. We would be on our way to a temple or activity and I would say I was hungry and we would take a quick turn into a beautiful restaurant with history and views. Or I would think of something else like waterfalls and Wayan would take us to the best one, not the closest or easiest for him or tourist places but ones worth every minute of the trip. Overall, Wayan made sure to give us the best experience possible and I can not thank him enough for taking great care of us! Book with him!

I cannot say enough about the 2 Wayans. Exceptional service, right on time, went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, very patient with our many questions, incredible knowledge of the area and the culture. Would highly recommend!

After two days with Wayan I am very confident in recommending this company's services to anyone coming to Bali in need of a skilled driver, knowledgable tourguide and flexible, forthcoming personality. I cannot praise this man's efforts to make our two tours as enjoyable as possible, high enough.

Me and my friend arrived Ubud and called Amansuka Tour the same night in order to book a tour the next morning. We spoke with Wayan, and continued the dialogue over Whatsapp. He picked us up at the hotel the next morning, and gave us a great tour containg temples, waterfalls (bathing), elephant cave and volcano views. Wayan told us that all first born boys in Bali are called Wayan, and that all three guides in this family business (brothers in law and nephew) wear this name. So we could just refer to him as «Handsome Wayan» ;) «Handsome Wayan» was a comfortable tour guide and driver, very knowledgeable but never annoying. Great experience and highly recommended! Stig

Both Wayan Amansuka and the other Wayan (we hired them for multiple days) were excellent. They were prompt, efficient, thoughtful, knowledgable, and pleasant. We visited several temple sites and terraced rice paddies while transiting between several days long stops (Amed, Ubud, Candi Dasa, Denpasar).

As our time on Bali was all about the ocean we decided to see another Bali with it’s beautiful temples, rice terraces and all other stuff you miss staying by the ocean. We contacted to Wayan via email and he suggested several options to satisfy our demand. So we chose a trip to northwest of Bali. The trip included Taman ayun temple, monkey forest Sangeh, Ulun Danu Beratan, the view of twin lakes, Jatiluwih rice terrace and Tanah Lot. Wayan met us just at the time we agreed on and everything went perfect. Wayan is a very nice person with kind eyes. He told us a lot about Balinese culture and religion, patiently answered lots of questions we asked and showed us all places we’d planned to visit. Originating from Priest family Wayan knows a lot about Hinduism and it was really fascinating to listen to him talking about it. Also we got to know plenty of things about rice cultivation whilst strolling through the rice terraces. It was truly a pleasant day we spent with Wayan. And if it was more time we would definitely go to see vulcanos with him again. Next time we will. Thank you Wayan for being such a great person and splendid guid for us.
