The Grand Palace
Located at the heart of Bangkok, Thailand, the Grand Palace was a former residence for King Rama I to King Rama V of the Rattanakosin Kingdom. Today, the place is used for hosting royal ceremonies and welcoming the king's guests, State guests, and other foreign dignitaries. It is also a place where remains of kings and high-ranked members of the royal family were situated before cremation. The grand palace is divided into two main zones, which are the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the royal residence.

5.00Our tour guide ‘Oh’ was in the hotel lobby 15 minutes beforehand ready to meet us. We had a great air conditioned van which took us to the temples, very comfy. Oh had great knowledge of the temples, filled in a lot of background knowledge and spoke superb English. Oh also included the kids in our conversations and actually made them feel involved rather than just tagging along. If anything, it could have been slightly cheaper, but it took us to places we might have visited, but would not have got as much out of if we had organised the trip ourselves. I would happily recommend the tour to all.

4.00While I had a tour confirmation, no one was at the pickup point. Fortunately there was another guide, Nina, who stepped up to find out what was going on. We ended up joining her group so the tour was saved!! Plus she was an excellent, informative guide!!
