What To Expect
Join an unforgettable wine experience in the heart of Bilbao. Discover 5 amazing local wines (whites and red), each carefully selected to showcase the variety and style of wines available in the Basque region and surroundings! You'll learn everything about the tradition of our local wines, what and how to order when you are in the local bars and to understand how important are the different type of soils and climate for the identity of each varietal. Each wine will be paired with dried meats and/or cheeses! The tastings are hosted in our warm and inviting tasting room in downtown Bilbao as part of our wine bar Gastronomía Bilbao, the perfect plan if you want a little bit of wine education or a break to meet more wine lovers! Please note: If you have any food allergies or intolerances, please let us know in advance so we can accommodate your needs.

5.00Great sommelier that focused on the Basque region - both Spain and France wines, explaining the varitals as well as the difference between txakoli from Bilboa compared to San Sebastian wine. Great education and history provided. Wines selected were top shelf and very pleased

4.00Good thorough wine tasting tour of five wines - one cava, two whites and two reds - of the local area which had all their own differences and particular textures. All paired with cheeses and cured meats. I was not very knowledgeable on this topic beforehand so I feel it was very much worth my time. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable.

5.00We were treated to a wonderful history and geography lesson that lent depth to our wine tasting, Our host, Irene, is a high level sommelier. She guided our tasting of several lovely wines—mostly a variety of Txokoli wines. The wines were top notch. They were accompanied by a variety of locally produced cheeses and meats. This tasting has proved valuable as my husband and I have used the information about these wines throughout our continued travels through the Basque region. There were only three guests at this tasting—we two and a woman pilgrim from the Netherlands. It was a very nice evening.

5.00This is an excellent wine tasting- and more than that, it is an introduction to Basque culture. Our sommelier did an expert job of educating us on each varietal. She gave us tips about buying Spanish wines at home. She explained the local tradition of cider making. The private room set up for tasting is nicely appointed. The restaurant offers delicious pintas and excellent wines. We stayed after the tasting for a terrific meal. ( Save room for the cheesecake!) The location was easy to find.

5.00Nice wine tasting in a nice wine bar. Sommelier Irene was super nice and gave us a nice evening. There are 5 regional wines to taste. You learn about the region and taste very great wines. There is also a matching cheese or ham. A great evening! Highly recommended if you like to taste regional wine.
