What To Expect
San Juan de Gaztelugatxe
It's a very special place for basque people. Little island connected to land through a stone bridge and with an outstanding view. After going down the cliff by a path, we must climb 241 step in order to get to San Juan ermitage. The views are impossible to forget.
Bermeo
The most important seafaring town in Biscay, full of life and interesting history. A walk through the old town will take us to the port.

5.00Our guide, Jose, arrived at our hotel and picked us up shortly before 9am. Having led tours for many years now, he knew the best times to get to each stop. He was able to answer nearly every question we had right off and if he didn’t know the answer, he took the time to find the answer for us. Over the years I have been on numerous tours and this was certainly one of the best. Since this was a private tour, we were able to set our own pace and were never rushed along and never had to wait for anyone else. The recommendation for lunch was spot on and we enjoyed it thoroughly. I hope to return to the Basque Country someday and I hope I cross paths with Jose again.

5.00It was a fantastic day out, seeing places which we probably wouldn’t have accessed otherwise. Jose was a great tour guide, very friendly and very knowledgeable. Be prepared for a strenuous walk to San Juan, it’s definitely worth it!
