Battambang is one of Cambodia’s most under rated destinations. Located 3 hours to the south of Siem Reap, this is a stunning countryside destination in an area known as the ‘rice bowl’ of the country. You will travel from Siem Reap to Battambang in a private air-conditioned car or van and then switch to a tuk tuk for your day tour.
Your day tour will begin with a village visit, driving a little off-road to see the fishing village, local plantations and including a ride on the Bamboo Train. From here your guide will take you on to Wat Banan temple, climbing all 365 stairs to reach the temple plateau, followed by a stop at the infamous Killing Caves.
Your last stop for the day is Phnom Sampeav, famed for its bat caves. Your guide will take you to his secret mountain spot where you will have a short climb to the top. As the sun sets, watch the millions of bats fly out for their evening meal before returning to Siem Reap.

What To Expect
Take a ride on the traditional Bamboo Train, a bamboo platform laid over 2 sets of wheels on a single track. In the old days this was used to transport goods between Battambang and Phnom Penh and was a typical mode of transport for farmers and villagers. Today, it takes you through the beautiful countryside to a little village you can explore on foot before returning to your starting point.
Wat Banan Temple
Climb the 365 stairs to marvel at Wat Banan, an Angkor era temple which sits on top of a hill close to the Sanker river. Banan is seldom frequented by tourists and outside of Cambodian holidays it is likely that you may be the only visitor.

5.00Wow! Ok, where do I begin? This tour started off with a relaxing personal car ride from Siem Reap to Battambang. My driver was polite and made sure I was comfortable. Shared a coffe together, and he even showed me a picture that he had seen of me online in Siem Reap news at the water festival which he shared with me immediatly over whatsapp! Sooo cool!! Upon arrival at Battambang, I was greeter by Mr. Kim and his tuk tuk... this man, MADE my day AND my trip! As a local to Battambang he was able to take me all around introducing me to locals and showing me their daily lives in the city, the market, and the farms. He showed me all the cool hidden jems of the area including a secluded tree that is packed with fruit bats... which he snuck off to shake for me so I could see them all fly!!! Wow!! Mr. Kim was knowledgable on the culture and lore of the area and provided so much insight on the beliefs and culture of the people living in Battambang. He shared the entire history of modern Cambodia and even divulged his direct family inpact of the war while at the killing caves and gave me such an appreciation for the Cambodians who lived thru that era. All I have to say in the end. Is that, if you truly want to experience Battambang & truly understand the history and life of the Cambodian people. This tour & Mr. Kim is the way! Thank you Mr. Kim & Driver, this was truly the highlight of my trip to Cambodia. 🙏

5.00I really enjoyed this tour! We toured the temples earlier, and this tour was very different. It was a relaxing day in the countryside. We got to see everyday life in a Cambodian village. Kim was personable and very knowledgeable. His English was clear and understandable. He explained the unfortunate history of this town and others nearby. We rode the bamboo train, climbed the steps to the temple, and visited the cave. The entire tour is via tuk tuk with the exception of the transfer back and forth from Siem Reap. This was approximately 2.5 hours in a clean, air-conditioned vehicle. I would recommend this tour!

5.00Excellent tour a long day though left Siem Reap at 7am and did not get back till 9pm. Great day saw the main town,went on The Bamboo Train,visited a temple,saw the killing caves and visited the bat caves. Tour guide excelllent as well. Spent most of the day on a tuk tuk.

5.00A huge thank you to Kim for a really enjoyable day. We were picked up from your hotel from Siem Riep to Battanbang, where we met our tour guide Kim who was wating patently on his Tuk Tuk. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole day, as we visited many different places and learnt a lot about the history of Cambodia – this trip is a must if you plan to visit Cambodia.

5.00We were picked up by our driver from the hotel and driven to Battambang to meet up with our tuk tuk driver Dave and guide for the day. He was a lovely man and very informative throughout the day. We had a very interesting trip around the local market which gave us a real insight into how the Cambodian farmers work to sell their products. The bamboo train was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed the ride down the track. Lunch was simple but delicious. We went through some of the small villages onto our next location and welcomed and waved at by all the lovely children with huge smiles on their faces. It was one of the best parts of our day. The bat cave was great, although it was late when they decided to fly out it was still amazing to see the stream of bats flying out. It was by far the best day of our 5 week holiday and made better by Dave showing us the real Cambodia

5.00David was our tour guide for a whole day tour through Battambang. We arrived from Siam Reap early in the morning and even three days later it is still a trip we like to think about. The day was completely packed with activities andDavid excused himself several times not having enough time to go into great details. Nevertheless I want to highlight that he covered everything and gave us all information in a nutshell. I will remember the story of how Battambang was founded forever and it was told this great that i am able to repeat it, even if you would wake me up in the middle of the night. Definitely a tour guide i can recommend from the bottom of my heart. Cheers David

5.00Excellent, well thought out day trip that covers so much of Battambang. We got picked up at 7am from our accommodation. Our driver was very friendly and thoughtful (he even gave us fruit for the long and late night drive back). Our tour guide, David, was absolutely brilliant. Not only did David cover everything listed in the tour with great detail and passion, but he also went out of his way to take us to some extra spots he thought we might like. We felt really immersed in the local culture, and came away with a much greater understanding of Cambodia’s history. We enjoyed the frequent stops at local markets and restaurants for tasty cuisine, and even drove through the countryside to see the farmland. David’s charisma made him the perfect, fun tour guide and he carefully answered all our questions. Thank you so much for a fantastic day!
