An interesting and mind-expanding visit to four sites that tell the story of the city and region. As our enthusiastic and super-smart guide Stella, herself a trained archaeologist, put it: “23 centuries of history in a four-hour tour!” In fact, we felt very lucky to get Stella at all, because the basic tour does not include a guide - just a local driver. Trust me, get a guide and ask for Stella by name. She will transform a collection of castles and churches and monasteries into a narrative of Alexander, Romans, Ottomans and WWII. This is such an important place in the history of civilization that you’ve never heard of.

John was AMAZING….and funny. Koether our interest the whole time with his VAST knowledge of history. Even corrected some of the facts we thought we knew. (What did our 9th grade World history teacher know way back in the 50s. LOL). John was also very flexible and made sure we saw what we were most interested in…and how much time we wanted to spend in each spot. (Now THAT’S what I call a private tour.). Well worth the money.

Very educational and entertaining. Driver and guide both have outstanding focus on guests. Many highlights: history we didn't know; church, towers, other structures; lunch at local restaurant with no other tourists; they were very helpful with my handicapped wife.

The tour guide, I believe her name was Barbara was wonderful. We had a problem when we got off the ship as we could not find the van-we actually walked right past him. He was inside the van, there was no ID on the van and he was not holding up a sign. It was not a good start to the day but was rescued by the outstanding tour guide.
