With Mysterium Tours®, spend approx. 2-hours exploring the exterior of the Buda castle district by night and listen to gruesome historical facts and the bloody side of Hungarian history in the XV-XVII century, and learn the myths of Vlad Dracula and the blood countess Elizabeth Báthory. Finally your Storyteller will tell you Hungarian folktales and vampire stories of the 19° century.

Away from the crowds of Pest, this informative and entertaining tour, guided by a professional actor in period costume, takes you to some of the charming, magical places of the city: the Buda castle courts.

Note that Mysterium Tours does NOT craft typical guided tours for tourists, these are immersive storytelling experiences about legends, histories, and tales not always associated with the building we stand in front of.

Also note this tour starts from the bottom and includes a stairway leading up the castle district.

We’ve been on several of these type tours before and they are usually for the entertainment value more so than the history lesson. This tour had a couple interesting stories but didn’t really keep our interest and we ended up leaving early. It also did not help that we had walked down all the steps of the hill from buds castle to get to the meeting place to start to have the guide march us back up all the steps of that same hill to start the tour! If the tour starts at buda castle why not make the meeting place buda castle and not the bottom of the hill?!

This tour is a lot of fun with true stories and spooky tales that may or may not be true. It’s quite a hike up the hill to the castle, so be advised.

Tour thème was changed on us last minute. Too many people on tour where it was hard to hear guide. Very fast pace walk uphill. Boring stories Not well-rehearsed script

We thoroughly loved this spooky tour! In fact, we think it was one of the best bits of our Budapest trip! Our tour guide (Fabian) was fabulous!! He was great at interacting with the group, had us all in stitches laughing at some points and was friendly & approachable. The stories he told were all great, dark and twisty with the quiet night atmosphere adding to it. The sights were also incredible. With the walk up to the top he was considerate of our group and constantly checked in to make sure everyone was okay and able to keep up. Thanks Fabian!!
