We were picked up from our hotel and driven high into the mountains to Daria's beautiful house. We were greeted by Daria with a welcome golden apple juice and immediately started cooking. Daria gave us explanations on every ingredient we used infused with historical information. We all got a chance to experience cooking. Daria also explained medicinal use of a wide variety of plants. We then sampled 4-5 different infused rums. After food was ready we ate what we prepared and enjoyed every one of them.

We enjoyed the drive up to the house where Daria and her staff were waiting to welcome us. Everything was ready for us at the large cooking area. Daria was funny, informative and warm as she guided us through the cooking process. At the end we enjoyed the meal we had helped prepare. The mountaintop location was cool and comfortable. It was a lovely way to spend the day.

Daria is very engaging and informative. She provided information beyond just the food. The dishes were basic enough to be copied at home.

From the moment we arrived, our delightful hostess welcomed us with open arms and enthusiasm for her island’s cuisine. She guided us through the vibrant process of preparing coconut rice and peas, a tropical salad bursting with flavor, and perfectly cooked Creole fish. We learned not just how to cook but the cultural significance behind the ingredient, such as bamboo sprigs, ripe avocados, and freshly caught fish. You could feel the pulse of the island in every chopping sound and simmering pot. It was a hearty plunge into Dominican life and folklore.

Highly recommend it. Luckily, we were the only ones there. We cooked three dishes and each of them was sumptuous. A must do in Dominica

A delicious meal was had by all! Daria was a very engaging teacher. She told us all about the history of how Caribbean cuisine evolved and how different cultures infuanced it. She cooked us Chickens Curry, SO GOOD! Her home overlooks a picturesque valley and is very beautiful. We learned about native plants and herbs and how they use them. If you are looking for a local immersive activity you will love it!

This is a great experience, highly recommend during a visit to Dominica! Meeting spot and time was well coordinated and departed on time. Sad to see the devastation remaining from the hurricane in 2018 as this island is still recovering, but the people are all very welcoming and happy to have tourists back to help their economy. Daria was a great host and had a incredible home high up in the mountains with an open air kitchen for our group to work from. It was a fun time learning about Caribbean cooking and we all enjoyed our lunch (and the rum sampling!) during our visit!

We loved the intimate view into Dominican cooking offered by Daria and her staff. The food was delicious and every member of our family - young and old — had a delightful time. Daria is engaging, fun, and most importantly, a skilled chef. Highly recommended.
