A phenomenal experience going birding with Camilo in Chicaque, spotted some 30 species of birds, and the views there are going to remain core memories for life. The hikes down, around and up the cloud forest were tough but incredibly rewarding. Grateful and privileged to have travelled with Camilo and his extensive knowledge of the region. Quick tip- stay the night at El Refugio in the park.

The park and surrounding fields are absolutely beautiful. The birds didn't disappoint and the guides were great and knowledgeable. The hike down and then up the trail was a little strenuous but totally worth it

My friend and I spent a great day birding in Chicaque National Park guided by Diego and Héctor from Andes Tours. They were both personable, knowledgeable, and clearly excited about seeing birds themselves. It was a great day out and I'll have memories of amazing birds to look back on for the rest of my life. Andrés was responsive and helpful in organizing the trip. I would recommend this trip plus the addition of a stop at the hummingbird observatory just outside the park. It is a small additional cost, but well worth it as we saw six species of hummingbirds up close.

Fantastic! We saw 34 species of birds! Hector and Ramon, our guides, were knowledgeable and friendly. My husband and I were the only ones on the tour which enabled us to move quietly through the forest. A hummingbird even landed on my husband's head! I highly recommend Andes Ecotours.

Despite a huge traffic jam on the way to Chicaque, time ran quickly as the tour guide was very knowlegeable and entertaining. During the birding walk we saw a lot of forest birds. Even though it was sunday and therefore busy in the park. At the restaurant there are hummigbird feeders were this little juwels are easy to see and to record. Normaly the ride from downtown to Chicaque should not take more then 1,5 hrs. On my date it was the beginning of vacation time which caused the traffic jam. I will book another tour with Andes Eco Tours once I am back to Bogotá

Accommodating logistics and wonderful guides. This is a tricky area for birding (tons of species and little visibility), so if you are an avid/pro-birder, I'd definitely recommend looking for a bird-specific company. But as a leisure birder myself, for a very reasonable price, I had a blast birding in the forest with Hector. He is friendly, patient, and has an immense love for birds. I'd go back to Andes EcoTours in a heartbeat!

It was my first time in a Latin-American forest and it was an incredibly beautiful experience. Hector picked us up at the hotels and was very kind. In the forest he really followed our tempo (I was very slow, as I was very interested by the moss… and there were many!). Yes, I can absolutely recommend it! :)

I booked this trip to Chicaque after weighing up the birdwatching options near Bogota in terms of distance and how many species I might see. I decided Chingaza and Sumapaz, which are the other nearby options, were a bit too far in terms of travel time and that the cloud forest was likely to have more species. The birding at Chicaque was good, and was what I expected for cloud forest birding - I was lucky to be only one of two guests, and we walked for about 2.5 hours, stopping regularly to allow groups of birds to pass around us. We had 35+ species - including emerald toucanet, green-and-black fruiteater, and multiple tanagers - showing well which is quite good for about 4 hours of birding in dense vegetation. Our guide, Jose Luis was friendly and very knowledgeable, both about the birdlife, as well as about Bogota and the surrounding area, and Colombian current affairs too. I was very happy with the experience - the organisation, including pick-up, was very smooth. The park has a restaurant where it's possible to grab breakfast or lunch, with hummingbird feeders to kick off the birding with 3-4 species. Overall I would definitely recommend this trip for birders wanting a quick day trip from Bogota.

Our guide, Jose, was exceptional knowledgable. We had bad luck traffic wise and got stock in jam for about 4 hours. But the stories and discossions we have had were so interesting that the time past by fast. We still had enough time for the park and identified almost 40 species. I will come back an do another tour with Andes EcoTours.
