Our market days have been vibrant and colorful since more than 4,000 years ago. Chichicastenango Market Days only on Sundays and Thursdays, it is one of the largest markets in Central America and one of the best places to experience our rich culture and spiritual heritage blended with the New World influence from the Spanish Colony. Chichi is the perfect culture-watching thing to do as a day trip, tasting seasonal fruits like the original GUATEMALA BANANA, and trying PAN DE MUERTO "bread of dead" (a bread honoring the four elements of life to those are no longer in this physical cosmos), textiles and everyday scenes of Mayan life.

Great market! A mix of local and touristy merchandise. Extremely colorful. You can find everything from flowers to underwear to jewelry to traditional clothing.

Very unimpressed. Just did not compare to markets in Istanbul, Guamote in Ecuador, Omdurman in Khartoum. Everything is relative. The day trip from Panajachel to Chichi was not worth it.

When we contacted Columbus Guatemala Travel from our home in Massachusetts, we weren’t sure what to expect. This would be our first time returning to Guatemala with our children, now teenagers, whom we adopted from Guatemala as babies. We got more than we could ever have hoped for. The entire team listened to our needs, made recommendations that were spot on, and accommodated every request. They were the most responsive business I’ve ever worked with and their kindness was apparent from the very first communication. The guides became fast friends. Carlos, Esteban, Luis, and JJ were so knowledgeable and ready to share this amazing country with us. In just a week we saw Tikal, Lake Atitlan, and Antigua. We hiked a mountain for sunrise, horsebacked up a volcano, visited churches and markets and ruins, and took in the beauty of the people and the landscape. If you are considering using this business as your guide, don’t hesitate. It will be one of the best decisions you’ll make.

A small group of us had a private tour with Cathy and she was fantastic! Very knowledgeable and personable. She grew up in Antigua and knew the area and all the great spots to get bites to eat and where not to eat. I couldn't highly recommend booking a trip more and especially with Cathy. There were meat eaters, vegetarians and a vegan in the group and the destinations and foods we had catered to diet and the whole experience was very personalized!

Absolutely reliable. Everyone at the agency is super friendly and we had a spectacular day 🤩 This is a visit that is definitely worth it. Even the pantheon is beautiful! 😎 Juan is a great guide: friendly, patient, fun, cultured... everything you expect when you want to get to know and learn about another country. We highly recommend asking about him 😉
