Materuni Waterfalls
Stop 1: Materuni Waterfalls & Coffee Culture Our first destination is Materuni Village, home to the Chagga people and known for its impressive waterfall and rich coffee traditions. After a short guided hike through green farms and banana trees, we arrive at the breathtaking Materuni Falls—crashing from over 90 meters high. There's time to take photos, dip your feet, or just enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Then, get hands-on with a traditional coffee-making session, from picking and roasting the beans to enjoying a fresh, rich cup brewed the Chagga way. It's more than just coffee—it's a celebration, and you're part of it. Local Lunch Included After exploring the waterfall and the coffee experience, enjoy a freshly prepared local lunch in the village, featuring traditional Chagga dishes, before heading to the next destination.
Chemka Hot spring Tour
Stop 2: Chemka Hot Springs – Hidden Oasis of Warmth and Wonder After your village lunch experience, we journey toward one of Tanzania's most surprising natural gems—Chemka Hot Springs, known locally as "Maji Moto." Tucked away in a remote area surrounded by ancient baobab trees and open savannah, this geothermal spring feels like nature’s private spa. Dive into sparkling, warm blue waters naturally filtered through volcanic rock. The area is peaceful and shaded, offering a perfect place to swim, float, or just relax on the soft edges. For the adventurous, a rope swing adds a bit of playful thrill, while others can simply enjoy the tranquility, birdsong, and serenity of this tropical haven. Whether you're recharging in the water or unwinding beneath the trees, Chemka is where the stress melts away. Return Journey – With Flexible Drop-off After soaking in this magical setting, we'll take a smooth drive back to Arusha—or Moshi, if that’s more convenient for you.

A brilliant experience at Materuni. Watching the coffee being made from scratch was fascinating, and we learnt a lot about the process before having a go ourselves. the traditional Tanzanian songs and atmosphere made it even more special. the coffee was excellent fresh, rich, and beautifully prepared. Highly recommended if you’re in the area

We had such a wonderful day visiting Materuni Waterfalls, and our guide Alprince made the experience so relaxing. From start to finish, he created a calm atmosphere, taking care of all the details so we could simply enjoy the journey. The hike through the lush landscape was peaceful and full of natural beauty, and when we reached the waterfall, it was breathtaking. Alprince shared insights about the local area and culture - We had plenty of time to take in the scenery and enjoy the moment. If you’re in Arusha and looking for a memorable day trip, I highly recommend Materuni Waterfalls with Alprince as your guide.

after the safari, it was necessary to travel from Arusha to Kilimanjaro to fly to Zanzibar. To pass the time took a tour of the falls from Joni and didn't regret it. The whole day flew by like a moment, a lot of positive emotions. Lunch and the coffee-making ceremony were at 1,800 meters on the mountain, then the clouds went and the mountain appeared, it was just unforgettable. I recommend it unequivocally.

We had a wonderful day with Johnny. He picked us up in Arusha and we drove to the Materuni Falls. The trail is not so difficult that anyone couldn't manage it. At the waterfalls, we had a quick refreshment break and jumped into the water. The water was very refreshing. It's a great spot for photos and a beautiful setting. There are small local shops (souvenirs) on the way to/from the waterfall. Afterwards, we had lunch with local dishes and were able to watch the production of coffee (Arabica) and taste it. Finally, we went to a restaurant together and were lucky enough to see Kilimanjaro at sunset.

I had the best time doing the Materuni day trip with Tanzalux Safaris! From the moment we arrived, the local people welcomed us with songs and big smiles. It was so beautiful and made me feel at home. The waterfall was amazing so fresh and peaceful. After that, we visited the village, and I got to try Chagga traditional food and local banana beer. It was something different but I really enjoyed it. The cooking style was interesting and very tasty. Also, they showed us how they make coffee, and we even danced and sang with them during the coffee making – it was so fun! The energy was high and full of happiness. I didn’t want the day to end. Thank you Joel for this beautiful cultural experience. I will never forget it. Highly recommend this for anyone visiting Tanzania.

We were picked up by our tour guide Elly and had great conversations with him throughout the day. He was very friendly & caring. My friend had a cold, and Elly even arranged a ginger drink with a friend at the local market to help her feel better. Thanks also to my friend John, who recommended the tour and put us in contact! We started with a hike to the Materuni Waterfall, and the nature was breathtakingly beautiful! We got wet at the waterfall, but it was totally worth it! We also had a furry hiking companion. Afterwards, we visited a coffee farm that has been passed down from generation to generation, where we learned a lot about their traditions in coffee production, sang together, and tasted the coffee. The day was rounded off with a swim in the Quemka springs. And all of this in just one day! I really enjoyed the experience and even just during the drive with Elly, I learned a lot about the culture in Arusha and other areas in the country. I already recommended it to another family, daughter and mother, who also loved the tour.
