Meryemana (The Virgin Mary's House)
Located in the Aladağ Mountains, just 5 miles from Ephesus, the House of the Virgin Mary is a significant pilgrimage site. According to tradition, Mary came to Ephesus with St. John in 37 A.D. and lived there until her death in 48 A.D. The site was recognized as a place of pilgrimage by the Archbishop of Kusadasi in 1892, following the discovery of the house. On July 26, 1967, Pope Paul VI visited and prayed at this sacred location, cementing its importance for visitors from around the world.

We cannot say enough good about our tour guide Aydin and our bus driver Sona. Aydin was an English teacher at University, so not only did speak English well, but he was the most kind tour guide we have ever met. He took such good care of my wife and I, which was no small feat as I was walking on crutches. He crafted our tour so that we hit the main attractions early before the crowds came, and the took us to other main attractions where the crowds had died down, so we could not have asked for a more perfect tour. It seemed that everyone knew and liked Aydin. He was also kind to the local vendors and bought things from them. We ate a delicious lunch at a place where they make the most beautiful Turkish carpets, This tour was certainly a highlight to our entire cruise. We learned so much relevant history about the area and could not be more pleased with a tour and a tour guide (and driver).

Very easy meeting point outside cruise terminal. We were sent a link to YouTube showing the meeting point. Surprised to find it was just us as we had a great day starting at Ephesus from Upper Gate. We spent almost 2 hours taking a bunch of pictures of this historical site (normally 1.5 hrs) then finished at the Theatre and the Ephesus Experience Museum. Fusun was very informative about Ephesus and Türkiye in general. The leather fashion show was nice and we purchased probably the last jacket I will ever need. Turkish Carpet venue was very interesting and after a nice Turkish lunch of mese, chicken, lamb kofte we had a tour of the facility which is sponsored by the Turkish government which is trying to increase interest in a dying cultural heritage skill. Next was a visit to the Turkish Bath. Very relaxing and worth it. Finished by driving to Pigeon Island for final photos and the end of a great day. Highly recommended. 5 Stars

Aydin is an amazing tour guide. He is very kind, patient, and knowledgeable about Ephesus and the history behind it. We accomplished so much in just one day - thanks to Aydin and the great driver we had! Highly recommend the bath after.

We had an amazing experience with our guide! They were knowledgeable, friendly, and made the tour both fun and informative. Everything was well organized, and we felt like we got to see so much more than we would have on our own. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting!
