Well organised trip. Our tour guide picked us up on time. He was knowledgable, provided a lot of informations about the Terracotta army and a little bit about Xian. The burial pits were a bit crowded but it was to be expected. We enjoyed the trip overall.

Kai - our guide - was punctual, organized and very informative in this must-do tour for the terracotta warriors. He smartly guided our small private group through the bid queues and large numbers of people trying to get the best view of the statues. He also helped us choose our meal at lunch before taking us back on time to catch a train at the station. This tour is super recommended in general and especially if you are just stopping briefly in Xian (which to be honest deserves more time than just a day) as they are very flexible in where they pick you and take you back (hotel / airport / train station).

We had an amazing private tour with Becky the tour guide. Becky and the driver picked us up at 7.30am to head to the Terracotta Army. Tip - aim for an early start to avoid traffic and queues. We stopped en route at the place where they make replicas. This was good as they showed the process. You could buy whole replica's of the Terracotta Army and have it shipped to you if wanted. We then made our way to the Terracotta Warriors. Becky explained in detail the story of the army, and why it was there. Also explained the discovery in 1974 by a farmer. The farmers were drilling holes in the hopes of finding water to dig wells when they came upon some ancient terracotta pottery shards. It didn't take long for news of this discovery to spread and then Chinese archaeological team began excavating the site. What these farmers had discovered was the 2200-year-old remains of a life-sized, terracotta army that had been buried with Qin Shihuangdi. Buried in underground pits, there are 8,000 terracotta army. It is now a Unesco heritage site. The site is divided into 3 pits. Pit 1 is the orginal discovery site and the size of two football pitches. Pit 3 is half that size and Pit 2 is the smallest. More excavation will be done over the next several years. But for now this is an amazing site to see. Well worth going. Becky and the driver then dropped us back. All in all a rough 5 hour trip. Thank you Becky and keep up the good work. We really enjoyed the trip.

Our tour guide Isaac was the best! He picked us up at the train station and drove us to the Warriors. This is definitely a great option. We bypassed all of the lines and the crowds were minimal. We went in the afternoon. Isaac gave us all of the history on the warriors and gave us time to explore on our own. Our driver was great as well. We went to many different places in China and for us, the private tours through Viator were THE WAY TO GO!!
