  It’s a beautiful place, but there was a lot of nickel and diming. Pay for toilet, pay to walk up hill, chairs…. But what was uncomfortable was the snorkeling gear- no fins were provided. I’ve been on snorkeling excursions before and fins were always provided. Only the host, Charlie, had a pair. Also a ladder back into the boat would have been helpful. Sigh. I won’t use the group again.

  The boat ride was great, saw dolphins and crocodiles, the snorkeling is fantastic, the beach is amazing, the lunch yummy.

  The location was very nice but I can’t recommend this specific tour. Snorkeling was without direction, just here is a mask (no flippers) jump out of the boat and swim near a large rock island. Not for beginners. Also food was not good (over cooked chicken) and Dixie cups for ice tea and water. Small 30 ft. boat over was extremely chopping (seasickness)

  It's a great experience. The ride to the island can be a bit wild, yet fun! The beach was amazing, with great beverage service. The food at lunch was delicious!

  There are additional costs: for lounge chairs, to use the private restrooms, for wifi, to go on a hiking trail and to rent paddle boards, kayaks and the banana boat.

  If you are staying in Jaco, DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR! Contact your hotel concierge directly for the best Tortuga Island tour. Inside Tours is like one of those “beach scam tours” the hotel warns you about. My first red flag was when I tried contacting Inside Tours directly but the line would just ring or get a busy signal. Turns out the only way to contact Inside Tours is through WhatsApp, you cannot just call them using any phone directly. So I inquired with the hotel concierge and the front desk and NO ONE at Los Suenos Marriott or in the area had ever heard of this tour operator, second red flag. Finally I get an email from Inside Tours, they said my pick up time at Los Suenos Marriott will be at 8am. At 8:15 I have a friend call them using WhatsApp and they say they are running late because of traffic and will be there at 8:30, red flag #3. Now they tell us it is a 1.5 hr drive to the dock! Los Suenos Marriott is literally 5 mins from a marina! So now we begin our 1.5 hour drive from Jaco to Puntarenas. Half way we get into an accident! Fortunately it was a minor collision, but the driver had to get out and exchange info for 30 minutes, so now we are behind 1 hour from our original tour time, red flag #4. Mind you on this 1.5 hour trek they have no food or beverages available. When we arrive at the dock, it is this tiny boat that is now going to take nearly an hour to still get to the island! And you have to wear an orange life vest the entire boat ride!!! Red flag #5. When we finally arrive at the island, now they tell us it is $10 each to rent a beach chair! Red flag #6. Then when it was time for lunch, we had chosen the chicken option. We were at the end of the line and they served me so sort of sautéed chicken and then they served my friend some dry fried chicken finger. They acted like they couldn’t understand us when we asked why the chicken was different from mine! So clearly they ran out of chicken and had to find some random back up! Red flag #7. So we took a walk further down the Island and saw some guys that were wearing Los Suenos shirts and asked them what tour they were operating? They told us they operate a catamaran directly from the marina next to our hotel!!! It was a huge beautiful catamaran that was literally a 5min drive from our hotel! This “CAT” tour come to find out is nearly the same price, offers water and cocktails on the boat, beach chairs are included with their tour and it is a Large, safe boat that you do not have to wear life vests in and it is located in Jaco 5 mins from the hotel!! Come to find out it is the Los Suenos Marriott recommended operator for Tortuga Island tours!! We ended up paying them to take us back to Jaco and got a comfortable, safe ride directly back to the marina 5mins from our hotel. My advice is do your research and contact your hotel concierge directly. There are MUCH better tour operators in the area.

  Pretty basic, with no fluff. Boat ride to island with snorkeling, fruit snack and lunch. Have to pay for beach chairs, restrooms, banana boat and hike extra. Bar staff was great. Thank you Jeffrey!

  Loved the island. Great food and service. Beautiful beaches Not so much the boat. Did not like the ride. Too fast and bumpy.
