Really enjoyed this bag making workshop in Edinburgh. Me and my friend did this activity for my birthday. It was great to see how popular this activity is as other people attending had travelled from all over the world to do it. Chris was our host and he was fab, checking all our screws and ensuring our bags were secure. You are provided with spare screws and a screwdriver to take away with you and I had no problems at the airport. My only feedback as a potential improvement would be to offer a longer shoulder strap, I like to wear my bag across my body.

My daughter selected this as an activity for her birthday and it did not disappoint. The staff were welcoming and clear on their instructions. The final product was lovely too. We all also loved the option to make different bags to suit our preferences. I would thoroughly recommend this for a family activity.

Me and my sister had the best time at the Arch 10 Islander handbag making experience! Michelle and Beth were amazing, and the shop is beautiful. Bit expensive but definitely worth it!!

Attended a ‘Design your own’ bag workshop today at the St Andrews Islander store and we highly recommend it, we were a party of five including a 12 year old. Jacob who was leading the workshop gave 5 star service from start to finish, very accommodating, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. A big part of making the bag was choosing the colours and patterns of Harris tweed and Jacob was not only incredibly patient while we took forever to choose our designs he also helped us with choosing the best designs to suit our colours. Will not hesitate to return aswell as recommending to friends and family. Thank you Jacob!

We had such a wonderful time at the Islander Harris Tweed handbag-making workshop in Edinburgh. It was engaging, creative, and perfectly suited for both seniors and adults. The project was just challenging enough to be satisfying without being overwhelming, and the workshop length was ideal — not too long, not too short. The instructors were patient and supportive, and the whole experience was relaxed and enjoyable. We all walked away with a beautiful, functional bag and a great sense of accomplishment. One small tip: if you plan to use your bag right away, bring a bit of Loctite or thread locker. The screws can loosen fairly quickly with immediate use. Highly recommend this workshop — a fun, memorable experience and a great way to work with authentic Harris Tweed while visiting Edinburgh.

The workshop was so much fun. Gill and her colleague did great. Helped with everything that didn't work out. Nobody wanted to go home.

Fun workshop to create a beautiful bag. Jane, Anna, and Fiona were helpful and made all instructions easy to follow. There were many colours and bag styles to choose from.

***Quick note on the class: You’re spending money to basically put 8 screws into a purse. What a waste of time.*** Terrible experience at the store on Victoria Street. Spent quite a lot of money here - participating in a workshop and then heading to this location to buy some other items. The store associate was so rude. I asked to see a backpack and try it on. Her response was that I could not try on any backpack in the store because those are for paying customers. Nevermind that I was in the store, with an Islander purse that I made the day before - clearly, I could afford their silly backpack. I had already placed several other items on the counter to buy - again, clearly a paying customer. It only gets worse from here. I reached out on social media to customer service. WHAT A JOKE!! We spent weeks going back and forth because they are SO SLOW to reply. Eventually, they offered me a small discount to come back to their store - which is impossible as they were aware I live in another country. It felt like such a slap in the face. I had several items on my Christmas list from Islander, and I was planning to purchase some as gifts as well - but no way. I will spend my “paying customer” money elsewhere!!

Great fun, plenty of choice and options might be worth looking at different handbags online before going as the choices are mind blowing .

This was a great workshop! Geraldine was so patient and attentive. So many options to choose from and she gave her suggestions on what may look nice or different sizes and such. We had the option to upgrade or change bag size if we felt anotger type called to us. There were only three of us in the class which made it intimate and comfortable. They came out very, very cute. If we're ever if Scotland again, we will book with this loaction.
