Khor Virap
Armenia is a land rich in history and breathtaking landscapes, but one place resonates deeply in every Armenian’s heart — Khor Virap Monastery. Just outside the capital, it offers a stunning view of the biblical Mount Ararat, a symbol of Armenia’s heritage. The name “Khor Virap” means “deep dungeon”, as the monastery was built on the site of the royal prison where Gregory the Illuminator, the first Catholicos of Armenia, was held for 13 years. Today, it is one of the holiest sites for Armenians worldwide, attracting visitors with its spiritual significance and majestic scenery.
Tushpa Wine Cellar
After admiring the views and capturing unforgettable photos, we will continue our journey to the Tushpa Winery — one of Armenia’s oldest private wineries. Established in the 1990s, Tushpa masterfully combines traditional Armenian grape varieties with a passion for winemaking in one of the world’s most ancient terroirs: the fertile Ararat Valley. Located right next to its vineyards, the winery carries the traditions of winemaking and brandy production brought from Van, the homeland of the owner’s ancestors. A highlight in Tushpa’s history was the honor of serving their wine to Pope Francis — a testament to the quality and pride behind every bottle.
