Arashiyama

Arashiyama is a picturesque district on the western outskirts of Kyoto, Japan, known for its stunning natural beauty and historic charm. It's famous for the iconic Bamboo Grove, where towering green stalks create a serene and almost otherworldly atmosphere. Visitors can also enjoy the scenic Togetsukyo Bridge, charming temples like Tenryu-ji, and seasonal beauty—especially during cherry blossom season and autumn foliage. With traditional shops, peaceful riverside views, and even monkey park hikes, Arashiyama offers a perfect blend of culture and nature.

Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto’s most iconic and spiritual sites, famous for its thousands of vibrant red torii gates that create winding paths up Mount Inari. Dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of rice and prosperity, the shrine is also known for its fox statues, believed to be messengers of the deity. The atmosphere becomes increasingly tranquil as you hike further up the mountain, making it a perfect blend of cultural experience and peaceful nature walk.

    Haider, our guide, was great! He accommodated my mum's walking needs (she couldn't go up too many stairs). He also picked us from Osaka, which was greatly appreciated. The Ginkaku-ji was stunning and there were many interesting souvenir shops in Gion. The Bamboo Forest was also scenic, although it was overcast when we went so it could have been better. Overall, we enjoyed the tour very much!

    Book a tour with Sam if you want a great guide/driver in the Osaka, Kyoto area. We spent a wonderful day with Sam as he safely drove us to Kyoto. He really knows his history and informed us throughout the day about the history of each special place we visited. It was a very hot August day. Sam did his best to organize the day for the lightest crowds and the coolest time of day. We are traveling the world for the next 3.5 years. We have visited many countries and met many people. Sam will be a young man we will always remember. Sam is an excellent guide, smart, speaks several languages, has great communication skills, and took great care of us the entire day! He even made sure he took us to the right station to get to the Expo after our tour with him ended. We Highly Recommend Sam!
