Casa Mila - La Pedrera
Designed between 1906 and 1912, UNESCO-listed La Pedrera is one of Barcelona's icons, and was the last building that Gaudí worked on before he devoted his attention to La Sagrada Familia. Often called Casa Milà after the family who commissioned Gaudi to create it, the building’s official name translates as ‘the quarry’ in Spanish, and some of its most beautiful spaces are open to the public. Collect your audio guide and explore the eye-opening interiors at your leisure. With audio commentary providing rich detail, you’ll come away with a deep understanding of the building and Gaudi himself. Pass through the decorative lobbies and two courtyards of Passeig de Gràcia and Provenca with their swirling murals and mosaics. Explore the Exhibition Hall, the former residence of the building’s owners, the Milà family. Ascend to La Pedrera’s crowning glory: its roof terrace. Marvel at the corkscrew chimneys set against the sweeping backdrop of Barcelona.

Worth the visit. It adds to the Gaudi experience in Barcelona. The audio guide enhanced our understanding of this building as well as other Gaudi creations. The best part of the tour is the last--the roof!

The audio headset worked well. The rooms ,etc. We’re amazing to look at. The roof is a little treacherous if you aren’t paying attention.

This creation of Anthoni Gaudi is genius. He was way ahead of his time as an architect. He definitely was thinking outside of the box, just like Vincent van Gogh. They are both geniuses. A must see if you're in Barcelona

One just cannot escape Gaudi's spell in Barcelona. The well-known architect has left countless architectural legacy in the city. One such shining example is La Pedrera, meaning "stone quarry", which is also known by its alternative name, Casa Mila. It has the distinction of being the last mansion designed by Gaudi before he fully devoted his time to the Sagrada Familia. Located on the Eixample district along the busy Passeig de Gracia thoroughfare, this modernist building from the early 20th century resembles a wobbling jelly with its visibly wavy stone facade and is easily differentiated from its surrounding buildings. Our timed ticket booked online at €29 each provides audio-guide access to all 9 floors of the building, including the fairy-tale-like rooftop terrace with all its warrior-looking chimneys. Typical of Gaudi's works, there are hardly any straight lines in his design, so expect to see undulating curves and naturalistic elements throughout the building interior. Despite the initial criticisms of his unconventional design, Gaudi certainly has the last laugh as more than 1 million visitors annually now line up to admire his iconic masterpiece. A must-see for all Barcelona visitors.
