The mangrove forest is one of the most vital and astounding ecosystems in the world. Damas Island, located just 10 minutes from Manuel Antonio is currently one of the most important remaining mangroves in Costa Rica. Paddling a kayak is the best way to experience wildlife and nature. Close to the water’s surface, gliding silently along. Our guide Elias was friendly, knowledgeable, and loved sharing the ecology of the mangroves.

This kayak tour was extremely enjoyable, especially being able to leave the hustle and bustle of the town and experience the tranquility of the mangroves. Elias (our guide) was very knowledgeable about everything mangrove related and made the tour very enjoyable.

Great trip. Remember to plan for the weather. We ended up having a full day of sun so sunscreen was important. Anderson was our tour guide and he was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna, as well as very friendly.

Had an amazing tour with Elliot. Monkeys, birds, and boas. Kayaks are standard sit on top in either single or double format. Very stable and easy to maneuver. I would recommend being in reasonable shape as it is over 2 hours paddling and if the wind and / or current are against you it can take some effort. However, it is a fantastic way to explore the mangrove.

Alvin was our guide, and Enrryque was our driver to kayak the enchanting mangroves. We saw so many amazing sights, both on the land and in the water. Thank you to these two amazing gentlemen for a wonderful tour!!

Memo was our guide, and he was excellent! We had planned to kayak, but he took us down to see the kayaks and we opted to take the boat tour instead. We decided it would be more enjoyable on the boat than stressing about maneuvering our kayaks as we are inexperienced. The boat tour was delightful! We saw many animals, and Memo gave us a lot of information and pointed out many things on the trip. He was friendly and funny and very engaging.
