Lake Wakatipu
oLake Wakatipu is the longest lake in New Zealand and the third largest. Wakatipu is a Maori word meaning, ‘Hollow of the Demon’. The lake has an unusual rhythmic rise and fall in the water level, approximately 12cm every 5 minutes. In Maori legend this strange rhythmic rise and fall of the water level, is said to be the beating heart of a monster from the deep depths of the lake.

Amazing but a long tour

4.00The tour of Milford sound and through the Fiordland National Park is truly beautiful and breathtaking. It is definitely a must. However it is a long journey there and back. I think it took 14 hours and with kids it got very tiring. I would have preferred a smaller group tour if it was possible because it got very exhausting. I wish it was communicated how long the tour would be in the description unless I missed it so we could have been better prepared.

5.00Lovely scenic drive from QT to Milford with a great commentary from the driver Adrian who has lots of interesting knowledge. The drive was safe and comfortable. The cruise down Milford Sound was awesome and breathtaking. Picnic lunch was very nice and plenty of food. Tea and coffee was also free . Would recommend.

5.00I loved the day trip! Nick, our bus driver, was fantastic—entertaining us during the long journey to Milford Sound and back with local knowledge and interesting facts. He knew exactly where to stop for the best photo's. The tour had a great mix of age groups, which made it feel really inclusive. I especially enjoyed the packed lunch on the boat at Milford—eating while taking in the stunning views. The lunch included a sandwich, crisps, a piece of fruit, crackers and cheese, a whittakers choclate bar and some biscuits. Plus, there was free tea and coffee on board the boat!
