Rafael was so knowledgeable and having grown up in the area & watched tourism develop he has an obvious passion for the Cloud Forest. I enjoyed a one to one tour and it was so relaxing just being able to soak up the environment. Rafa’s spotting skills are amazing and I saw delightful small birds like the nightingale thrush to the much prized Quetzal & the large wild turkey. We also found two tarantulas in their nests. Sadly no sloths or monkeys on this occasion but a very enjoyable tour with an excellent guide. Highly recommend Rafael if you want a personalised experience.

We went with Rafael for a night and day tour in Monteverde First of all, he's crazyly professional, patient and deeply explaining, and he's also really cute. He has a crazy eye and we've seen really beautiful animals. And the cherry in the mushroom - we saw 2 squirrels!!!! I highly recommend him ❤️

It was very nice. We had good expectations with this forest but certainly the guide improved it. Rafael taught us many birds and curiosities of the forest, you could see his passion for nature and that is always appreciated. No luck with the quetzal but nature is like this 😊 Next time it will be. 100% recommended, it is one of the most beautiful forests we have seen in this area

  • Great tour of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve

Great tour of the preserve. Bit of a quiet day for us in terms of wildlife but still saw a number of birds and insects, including a flash of a quetzal high in the canopy. Trail was not technical but a bit damp and muddy in spots. Be sure to arrange your own travel on site. Our guide, Rafael, arrives via motorbike so dont expect a lift. We arranged a shuffle through the Info Centre in Santa Elena. Please note that their shuttle service has fixed departed times out of the park and we were forced to end our tour a bit early. So may be best to arrange a private taxi ahead of time.
