What To Expect
Mount Batur
Mount Batur (Gunung Batur) is an active volcano located at the center of two concentric calderas north west of Mount Agung on the island of Bali, Indonesia. The south east side of the larger 10×13 km caldera contains a caldera lake. The inner 7.5-kilometer-wide caldera, which was formed during emplacement of the Bali (or Ubud) ignimbrite, has been dated at about 23,670 and 28,500 years ago.
Toya Bungkah Hot Spring
Toya Bungkah is the starting point of hike, this ner by Lake Batur. Precisely located in the crater lake in Kintamani, Bali, Bangli Regency of Bali, located about 30 km (19 mi) northeast of Ubud in Bali. The lake is inside of the caldera of an active volcano, Mount Batur, located along the Ring of Fire of volcanic activity.

5.00Excellent experience from booking to drop off. We received a message from the local trekking company the day before detailing everything we needed to know, what to bring, what to expect, and when to be ready. Almost immediately after we got a message from our private driver, Mangku Angga, confirming pick up time and location. Excellent communication. Mangku was waiting on us the next morning and was excellent. He was extremely kind and professional, spoke great English, drew our attention to points of interest along the way, and answered every question we had at every stop. Our guide up the mountain was fantastic as well. He kept the group together, navigated the mountain well, and took some incredible pictures for us. This is definitely not something I would take young children, older parents, or anyone with bad knees on. If you are reasonably fit and want to see some incredible views though, I couldn't recommend this activity more. We opted to do the hot springs and coffee plantation after and both were great additions. We were concerned about the hot springs being overcrowded after reading a few reviews, but we had no issues. Relaxing for a bit after the hike was very nice. Loved the tasting at the coffee plantation as well. We ended up buying so much coffee and tea we're going to need another suitcase going back.

5.00The journey provided an incredible opportunity to explore more of the Bali island. The highlight of the journey was our driver and guide. Our driver Jero Kadek was prompt to pick us up and eager to help us have a fun and positive experience. We learned a ton about the island and Balinese traditions from our conversations, and greatly enjoyed the coffee farm and swing tour after. Our guide on Mount Batur was incredibly helpful, making sure we were taken care of and sharing more about the history of the volcano. We are grateful for the people we met along the way.

5.00We had an amazing experience hiking Mount Batur in Bali! Our driver, Mangku Angga, was incredibly friendly and easy to communicate with, he made everything smooth and enjoyable from the very beginning. A big shoutout also goes to our guide, Nengah, who was absolutely fantastic. He perfectly adapted the pace to our group, allowing us to hike quickly and efficiently. On the way down, he even took us on a different, more scenic route, and captured some stunning photos of us along the way. It was a truly unforgettable experience, thanks to both Mangku Angga and Nengah. Highly recommended!
