The House of the Virgin Mary
House of Virgin Mary is located on the top of the "Bulbul" mountain 9 km ahead of Ephesus, the shrine of Virgin Mary enjoys a marvelous atmosphere hidden in the green. It is the place where Mary may have spent her last days. Indeed, she may have come in the area together with Saint John, who spent several years in the area to spread Christianity. Mary preferred this remote place rather than living in crowded place. The house of Virgin Mary is a typical Roman architectural example, entirely made of stones. In the 4th century AD, a church, combining her house and grave, has been built. The original two-stored house, which consisted of an anteroom (where today candles are proposed), bedroom and praying room (Christian church area) and a room with fireplace (chapel for Muslims).
Ephesus Ancient City
This enclosure for archaeological remains at Ephesus elegantly reconciles historic conservation with accessibility for visitors. The site of a succession of great ancient civilizations, Ephesus, on the south-west coast of modern Turkey, embodied a peculiarly fertile synthesis of architecture and culture. In 356BC the Greeks built the Artemesium (a colossal Ionic temple dedicated to Artemis the fertility goddess) which was one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. During the 2nd century BC, Ephesus was the fourth largest city in the eastern Roman Empire, famous for its Artemis Temple, the Library of Celsus and its medical school..

Brilliant experience. Loved the tour vehicle, very comfortable and spacious. Great & experienced driver. Tour guide was fantastic. She was very experienced, kind & helpful. Didn’t rush us at all. Really appreciated her helping my elderly Mum whilst walking through the historical site. Learned lots about Ephesus & enjoyed the carpet factory stop too. Lunch was plentiful and very tasty. Would highly recommend this tour.

The visit to the Blessed Virgin Mary’s house was a highlight for us. Ephesus ruins were amazing as well. It’s 2 hours from Bodrum port. Well worrh it for us. However it has stops at a rug shop and leather showcase.

We loved the Ephesus tour. We also appreciated the trip to Heirloom Rugs to see how they are made. We did NOT like being pressured into buying a rug. Then after we did buy a rug on May 31, 2025, we have yet to receive it on Oct 3, 2025. Where is it?? It was a long trip from Bodrum & back and did not appreciate the pressure to do other things including the House of Virgin Mary that we did not want to go to. Do not recommend.

We had an amazing tour from Bodrum to Ephesus. Our guide Zeynep was fantastic. She met us at our cruise port with a driver in Bodrum and provided us with great information about Ephesus and Turkey along the way. We were so impressed with Ephesus and truly enjoyed our experience. We also enjoyed an amazing lunch of the local food which was delicious. If you are visiting Turkey you should definitely make sure you visit this amazing spot. I would highly recommend using this tour company and guide as they made everything so comfortable and easy and allowed us to have a wonderful experience. The guide also wrapped up the tour with a visit to a Turkish rug store (+ jewelry store) followed by a lunch spot next door. For what it is worth...I would absolutely skip the rug store experience and just enjoy the lunch spot which was very reasonable and fantastic. We did not purchase anything at the rug location but felt awkward as if we were expected to. Do a little homework before you go so you are prepared. Other than the awkward rug experience, we really enjoyed the rest of the tour and would use them again.

The drive from Bodrum to Ephesus takes 3 hours, not 2 as advertised in the description. We only had time to visit the Ephesus ruins due to the amount if time it took to get there from our cruise port. We made it back onto the ship with 3 minutes to spare. It cost us $102 per person just for the bus ride there and we had to pay an additional 40 euros to get into Ephesus. Make sure to do your research before booking this specific excursion. We were very disappointed.

Salim was our guide and he was excellent. We had a small van for just the four of us. He was interesting and had a sense of humor. Very knowledgeable about history of Ephesus.
