  • Unique, local tour

Spyros was awesome! This tour was worth every penny! I booked this with the main interest being Knossos Palace, but that turned out to be the least interesting stop on this tour (Still amazing though). This tour felt like an authentic visit to some lesser known places on Crete, led by a born and raised Cretan. The olive oil factory was awesome, the windmills were an interesting feat of engineering from the 1800s, and the villages on Lasithi Plateau were very unique. We visited a local coffee shop, an artisan pottery store, and a beautiful local restaurant. The only warning I’ll give is to beware the roads if you’re prone to car sickness. Spyros was an excellent driver, but the roads wind up and down the mountain in a way that makes it hard to avoid a little motion sickness. Bring your Dramamine and you’ll have a blast!!

From starting with the olive oil factory to ending with Knossos place it was a wonderful experience. Dimitrios was a wonderful tour guide with knowledge beyond just of the places we went. He offered amazing suggestions for food and activities to do for the rest of our stay in Crete. He was very attentive to everyone in our small group even letting us bring our luggage and dropping us off at the bus station and taking another passenger back early so they wouldn’t miss their appointment. THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE HAND: 1) It is a LONG tour. If you have any plans after I would try to schedule them around 7:30/8:00pm. 2) If you get car sick this tour might not be the best for you or plan accordingly since the roads are very windy. 3) No need to bring snacks as there are plenty of opportunities for food/beverages. 4) For Knossos, I would suggest doing some light reading or Wikipedia searches regarding the Minoan civilization before hand. The place itself is quite large and truth be told there isn’t much definitive facts know about the place or civilization so most is just speculation.

Probably the best tour I have been on. Spyros was an amazing tour guide! So knowledgeable about the area, took us to where he summered. Such a personal tour. I would recommend this tour just as it was, to anyone.

We took a private day trip without too much expectation and it was the best decision. Sypros our guide was amazing, he made the whole trip comfortable and was accomodative. We had a very rich cultural experience and Spyros being a local of Lasithi plateau provided a unique perspective that we wouldnt have got if we had tried to do it by ourselves (Olive oil factory and Pot making was another highlight and the people were great). My 2 boys just loved it as well!!! Highly recommend!
