Our first stop is visiting an old family olive oil factory. You see firsthand the modern techniques and equipment used alongside traditional methods passed down through generations. As you explore the factory, you have the opportunity to taste the fruits of this labor – rich, golden olive oil freshly pressed from the harvest. Each sip is a revelation, a burst of flavor that transports you to the sun-drenched hillsides where the olives were grown. But beyond the sensory experience, visiting an olive oil factory in Crete offers a deeper understanding of the island's culture and heritage. Olive oil is not just a culinary staple here; it is a symbol of life itself, revered for its health benefits and intrinsic connection to the land. As you bid farewell to the factory, you carry with you not just a bottle of olive oil, but a piece of Crete's soul – a tangible reminder of the timeless bond between this ancient land and its most precious fruit.

Top tier tour! I’ve done many tours in Europe and they’ve all been delightful, 10/10 experiences and yet Spyro still managed to make this a notch above! He was very hospitable and welcoming. He also had extensive knowledgeabout Cretan history, culture, and agriculture. It was clear that he was a well-known local in Lasithi and that added a special touch.

While we expected the tour to be great, we were wowed. Our guide Spyros was amazing and he curated such a special cultural treat for visitors to Crete and specifically the villages in the Lassithi Plateau and the windmills. We saw and learned so much about village life and got to experience first hand the famous Greek hospitality throughout. From Rika Olive Oil press where the owners showed us how they press the olive oil and tasted some of the famous Crete olive oil, to the traditional pottery where the master let us have a hand at his wheel, to the strawberry and wine as we saw firsthand the famous agricultural abundance that Crete is famous for. Possibly an even rarer treat was the visit to a traditional cafe for homemade cookies and Greek coffee "Kafeneio Tsamandoura" in Mesa Lasithi where the owners, Anna and Kostas Tsamandouras are legends in the area. The Palace of Knossos was impressive but the current people of Crete stole the show.

This was the best tour of Crete we could have asked for. Our guide Spyros is very knowledgeable of the whole island and made the whole tour experience very personable. Especially in the Lisithi Plateau, he knew the people we visited at each stop that added a great welcoming charm for us. Spyros has a very deep knowledge of the culture, people, and history of Crete and helped us have the best experience possible with the island and everyone we met.

From our morning pick-up near our hotel until our return late in the day, my friend and I enjoyed the company of Spyros, an energetic, knowledgeable man with a wonderful, fun-loving sense of humor and adventure. We traveled all over Crete, visiting an olive mill which produced organic 100% extra virgin olive oil, which we sampled but was never pressured to purchase (we did because the cost was inexpensive and we knew we were buying quality olive oil as gifts), to abandoned windmills which he allowed us to explore at leisure, to his childhood neighborhood of Lasithi Plateau where we tried authentic Greek yogurt and raki, to a quaint café where we met the owner of 50 years and sipped Greek coffee and cookies, to a ceramics factory where we tried our hand at pottery making, to an exquisite restaurant with ovens roasting juicy chicken and a kitchen filled with pots of flower petals stuffed with rice (which we sampled and loved) along with other delectables, to finally ending at Knossos Palace, where we explored ruins and took loads of pictures. Spyros was always aware of our need for bathroom breaks and each stop was unhurried and educational. We felt like our entire day was spent in the company of an old friend with whom we laughed and shared jokes instead of someone we had only met hours earlier. His tour was definitely the highlight of our stay in Crete. A definite must!

This was an absolutely amazing experience. Spyros gave us a tour we will definitely remember for a long while. We spent 9 hours together that were fun, informative and very memorable. Spyros treated us like family and gave us a day visiting an olive factory, the Knossos Palace, a pottery studio and many more personal touches. Picking strawberries to taste with local yogurt while sipping Greek wine, to visiting a local Cafe for coffee and homemade baked goods to enjoying a delicious lunch together were just a few ways he went above and beyond to give us the best day. We wiould definitely recommend this company and the tour to our friends and family and anyone wishing to spend the best day in Crete. Again, thank you Spyros, from the New Jersey crew.

Words can't describe how much fun this tour was. Spyros was an complete gentleman and went the extra mile for everyone. He was so informational about everything and certainly knew how to entertain 😆 Everyone me and my father has spoke to about our trip, we have spent most of it talking about Spyros taking us on that tour!

One of our favorite experiences in Greece. Spyros was an incredible guide. We really enjoyed getting away from the touristy areas and exploring the countryside. A must-do activity for anyone who goes to Crete.

Dimitri was a pleasant and widely knowledgeable guide who owns 500 olive trees… so he really knows the business. The Olive Mill was a unique and educational stop.
