We had a great time with Antonio. He let us customize our trip to visit friends in Puerto Plata. Although they had no control over it, we had to take a truck to the top of Mount Isabel because the Tram is not in service. It was a rough long ride but we made it. The Rum and Chocolate factory was great as well as lunch. Would definitely do again. We loved Puerto Plata.

The tour guide was very nicer who is also recommendable. Unfortunately, the cable car offered in the program did not exist at all. Entrance fee from the cable car true included - we would have been looking forward to such a thing. If we had known this before, we would have booked another tour. Unfortunately, it's end-deceptive. Not from the tour guide but from the provider.

We had a lovely time on our tour with 10 family members including seven and 10 year olds. We enjoyed the trip to the Mount Isabella and the national park there. It was not a cable car ride but we saw the views from the cable car station at the top after driving up. It was a great view of the vibrant City, a yummy lunch, a view of the cathedral and the Plaza in Puerto Plata. We enjoyed the Chocolate Factory and did some shopping. Antonio was very knowledgeable about everything. And very kind to the kids. I would highly recommend this tour for information about the country and a fun day.

Antonio and Jose the guide and driver respectively were amazing! It was a long day but from start to finish, they took us to some amazing places and provided us with the historical background behind the sites we got to see. The pickup time was on point to what they had said and they were super respectful of time. Highly recommended for those staying in Cabarete where pickup may not be as easy in comparison to Puerto Plata or Sosua.

Great start to know just about everything fun and historical about PP in one day; so worth it. A couple joined me on this tour (coincidentally from the same hotel), so it turned out to be just us three, and our wonderful tour guide professional Diana all together. TAKE THIS TOUR!

It is a VERY long walk to the pick up place! Had we known this we wouldn’t have booked. The tour once we got started was very informative and interesting. The lunch was fabulous. It was advertised as wheelchair accessible. The first vehicle that was supplied was unable to be accessed by 2 of our party. They did substitute a more accessible vehicle. They worked hard to accommodate us. They also customized the tour to our ability.

Our tour guide (Antonio) was great. Very knowledgeable and informative. He seemed to know everyone on the island. We never seemed rushed and enjoyed every minute of the tour. Antonio got us in the Rum tasting and Chocolate tastings right at the prefect time. All the locals seemed happy we were there. Highly recommend it.

Excursion Review – Thanksgiving Cruise Private Tour We traveled as a group of 27 adults and 5 children on a private excursion during our Thanksgiving cruise. Overall, it was a memorable and enjoyable experience, but I’d like to share a few areas for improvement along with highlights. Areas of Improvement • Pick-up logistics: Our group had to walk outside the gate to meet our guides (Antonio and Luis), as they were unable to come inside. Adjusting the pick-up process would make the start smoother. • Lunch accommodations: The included local lunch was tasty, but the restaurant could not seat our entire group together. Some guests sat inside while others were outside at separate tables. For large groups, a venue that can accommodate everyone together would be ideal. • Menu options: The chicken dish was fresh and flavorful, but the fish option was fried and resembled chicken tenders. While seasoned well, many guests would have preferred a whole fish for a more authentic experience. Highlights • Guides and drivers: Antonio, Jose, and Luis were excellent—attentive, friendly, and with us every step of the way. They even repositioned the vehicles so we didn’t have to walk back to the parking area. • Mount Isabel: We enjoyed the replica of the Christ Redeemer statue and appreciated the opportunity for photos. • Del Oro Chocolate Factory: The tasting, tour, and shopping were delightful. The brownies and hot chocolate were especially delicious. • Rum pairing: Although we skipped the distillery, Antonio thoughtfully picked up rum for us to enjoy with lunch, which paired wonderfully. • Cultural stops: Pink Street, Umbrella Street, and the souvenir shop added charm and variety to the day. Final Thoughts Despite a few logistical challenges, this was a wonderful excursion filled with culture, good food, and excellent company. With small adjustments to the pick-up process and restaurant selection, it would be nearly perfect. I would recommend this tour to others, and our group truly appreciated the effort and care shown by our guides.
