The Rijksmuseum boasts a globally esteemed collection that showcases some of the country’s most iconic artworks, including masterpieces by Rembrandt, Frans Hals, Van Gogh, and others. One highlight is Rembrandt’s ‘The Night Watch’, prominently displayed in a well-illuminated hall where visitors can appreciate every intricate detail.
Also worth pondering is 'The Jewish Bride', a painting that deeply moved Vincent van Gogh. After visiting the museum shortly after its opening, he expressed in a letter his willingness to sacrifice ten years of his life just to spend two weeks before this artwork, sustenance limited to only a stale piece of bread.
The Rijksmuseum's vast and inspiring collection features Delftware, sculptures, archaeological finds, clothing items, Asian art pieces, prints related to maritime history of the Netherlands among many other culturally significant artifacts—altogether bringing 800 years of Dutch heritage back into focus within an international framework.

Scam. Never received ticket and was informed by lady at the museum Viator is on their list for biggest scam. Then I “received a phone call from viator” saying the event was sold out. I had to buy an actual ticket at the museum.

Beautiful museum and gardens . Huge collection of art work. Expect to spend 2-3 hours at least and a lot of walking.

This is an amazing place to visit and needs a LOT of time to fully do it justice! The museum is well organised and has a logical flow around the various ages / focus areas and is fascinating throughout. One recommendations for those buying this ticket - some files are sent by the agency to download to a phone/tablet with the ticket- these are interesting but in no way useful to help navigate the sheer volume of exhibits. The museum itself has a free app and two methods to navigate through using your own phone/tablet - a “Highlights” tour and one that allows you to choose your own route. It’s easy to switch between them for the best experience. Remember to bring earbuds/headphones! This is a definite highlight of a trip to Amsterdam!
